Do You Make New Year’s Resolutions? As we are about to start a new calendar year it’s that time that, traditionally, people resolve to change an undesired trait or behavior or to accomplish a certain goal. But with that resolution comes the expectation that it should happen automatically and when life gets bumpy, as it undoubtedly will, thoughts of failure immediately arise. Wanting to make changes and be a better version of ourselves is a positive thing. But with that decis...ion to make a change you need to remember that we rarely, if ever, progress through the stages of change in a straightforward way. Lapses and recycling through stages are common, perhaps even inevitable. You should regard them as an integral part of the process that provide opportunities that allow you to learn, adjust and adapt. A question to ask yourself when you hit your first bump: What were my partial successes and what didn’t work that I need to adjust?
