This year’s Steel Equities Gold Coast Studios Ho Ho Ho 5K Run has gone virtual, but the swag, prizes, and fun are totally tangible! Partial proceeds will benefit @theopeningword ! All participants will receive a soft, hooded lightweight long sleeve shirt (available in both unisex and women’s sizes!) and be registered to win a new HD SMART TV, or a gift card generously donated by @runners_edge !... Pictured here, as they get ready to unload the truckload of food in Hempstead are (L to R) GLIRC staffers Nick Palazzo and Rick Secor, Church Food Distribution Center directors Andrea Fisher and Dorothy Jacob, and GLIRC Executive Director Sue Fitzpatrick. This morning, GLIRC President Mike Polansky, GLIRC Executive Director Sue Fitzpatrick, and GLIRC staffers Rick Secor and Nick Palazzo dropped off over 1000 pounds of non-perishable food (including several tins of Christmas c...ookies!) and $1050 in Supermarket Gift Cards at the Food Distribution Center of the South Hempstead Baptist Church, in a Hempstead community that has been among the hardest hit economically anywhere because of the pandemic. THANK YOU to everyone whose donations made this week’s dropoff possible....BUT THE JOB IS NOT DONE!!!! Our schedule for next week calls for a dropoff at the food pantry St. Luke’s R.C. Church in Brentwood, still another community where many, many people simply cannot feed their families. Contactless drop-off now takes place at the Running Club’s office/warehouse, 101 Dupont Street, Suite 24, Plainview, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Please leave donations in the milk crates placed outside our front door. If you cannot give in person, but would like to donate money to be used for our food pantry drives, we have created a PayPal fund. It will be used to buy supermarket gift cards and essential goods requested by community centers. PayPal link here: https://tinyurl.com/GLIRCfooddrive . We THANK YOU in advance and appreciate any and all donations!
