In Heaven the barriers between the redeemed and our God will be gone forever. It will be replaced by the joy of seeing things clearly for the first time. Why? Because not only will we see God, He will be the lens through which we see everything else----people, ourselves, and the events of this life. To look into God's eyes will be to see what we've always longed to see: the One who made us for His own good pleasure. What is the essence of eternal life? "That they know You, th...e only true God and Jesus Christ Whom You have sent (I Jn 17:3). OUR PRIMARY JOY IN HEAVEN WILL BE SEEING AND KNOWING GOD. ALL OTHER JOY WILL BE DERIVATIVE, FLOWING FROM THE FOUNTAIN OF OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD! "Whom have I in heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides You." - Psa 73:25 Is there really nothing on Earth this man desires but God? Yes, we desire many other things----but in desiring them, it is really God we desire. Augustine called God "the end of our desires." Father and mothers, husbands, wives, children, or the company of earthly friends, are but shadows. But the enjoyment of God is the substance. These are but scattered beams, but God is the sun. These are but streams, but God is the fountain. These are but drops, but God is the ocean! -from Randy Alcorn's book "We Shall See God" See more

"...and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies." - Ro.8:23 A Christian's experience is like a rainbow, made up of drops of the griefs of Earth and beams of the happiness of Heaven. It is a checkered scene, a garment of many colors. He is sometimes in the light and sometimes in the dark. We look for new heavens and a New Earth where righteousness dwel...ls. For this fulfillment the believing heart is panting, groaning, and sighing. We are to groan after perfection, but we are to wait patiently for it, knowing that what the Lord appoints is best. Oh, before those days fully come, quit the service of the false master who never can reward you except with death! Cast your arms around the Cross of Christ, and give up your heart to God. Then, come what may, "neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Ro. 8:38-39). -Spurgeon See more

"...So, you too must consider yourselves as having ended your relation to sin but living in unbroken relation to God. Accordingly sin must not continue to reign in your mortal body that you should obey its lusts...but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God." - Romans 6:11-13 Treat sin as it will treat you; spare it not for it will not spare you; it is your murderer, the ... murderer of the world; treat it therefore as a murderer should be treated. Kill it before it kills you. -Richard Baxter See more

"Infinite goodness can not possibly be loved too much!" - Richard Baxter "The duties required in the first commandment are, the knowing and acknowledging of God to be the only true God, and our God; and to worship and glorify Him accordingly: by thinking, meditating, remembering, highly esteeming, honoring, adoring, choosing, loving, desiring, fearing of Him; believing him; trusting, hoping, delighting, rejoicing in Him; being zealous for Him; calling upon Him, giving all praise and thanks, and yeilding all obedience and submission to Him with the whole man; being careful in all things to please Him, and sorrowful when in anything He is offended; and walking humbly with Him." - Westiminster Larger Catechism

What is the difference whether we gather wheat-ears, or manna? And what matters it if the first comes upward to us, and the second downward? God is as much present beneath as above; it is as great a marvel that food should rise out of the dust, as that it should fall from the skies. - Spurgeon

Glorious God I bless Thee that I know Thee. I once lived in the world, but was ignorant of its Creator, was partaker of Thy providences, but knew not the Provider, was blind while enjoying the sunlight, was deaf to all things spiritual, with voices all around me,... understood many things, but had no knowledge of Thy ways, saw the world, but did not see Jesus only. O happy day, when in Thy love's sovereignty Thou didst look on me, and call me by grace. Grant that I may always weep to the praise of mercy found, and tell others as long as I live, that Thou art a sin-pardoning God, taking up the blasphemer and the ungodly, and washing them from their deepest stain. -Excerpt from "The Great Discovery" in the 'Valley of Vision'

"God is a God of horizontal relationships within the Trinity; He's a God Who has established vertical relationships with us, with His creatures, and He pursues relationship with us. God has made us for relationships. Our lives can never be fully connected with those around us until they're first connected vertically with God. If you live for yourself, then you'll live by yourself. We need to be working for others, for the glory of God, for the benefit and blessing of others." - Nancy Leigh DeMoss

"The Gospel of the grace of God awakens an intense longing in human souls and an equally intense resentment, because the revelation which it brings is not palatable." - O. Chambers ". . . for there is none righteous, no, not one. By the works of the law no human being will be justified in His sight. Sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned. But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, . . the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe...justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, Whom God put forward as a propitiation by His blood, to be received by faith!" -Romans 3 and 5
