NYSUT update: While still seeking a federal reprieve, the Regents today canceled all Regents exams except ELA, Algebra 1, Earth Science and Living Environment. These exams will NOT be required for graduation. Also: for grade 3-8 ELA and math assessments, only multiple choice session 1 will be administered. Here's the presentation. Detailed FAQ from SED to come. https://www.regents.nysed.gov//FB%20-%20Monday%20AM%20-%20

Athena's Will Haines, GTA's most avid cyclist, will be riding this summer in Bike MS's ROC the Great Lakes ride to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society. This is a charity ride, with donations helping to fund therapies for progressive and pediatric MS, and advocacy for the MS community. The society's goal is to end MS forever. You can help support Will through his donation page at... http://greeceteachers.com//gta-member-riding-to-end-ms-wh/

Today we remember the 2,403 Americans killed on this day in 1941 at Pearl Harbor. We are also reminded that then, as now, America responds to all challenges. #PearlHarborRemembranceDay #PearlHarbor79 http://greeceteachers.com//today-we-remember-the-2403-ame/

A message from GTA President Brian Ebertz: Breast cancer affects everyone, women and men. That's why we're recruiting men to fight breast cancer through Real Men Wear Pink. Community leaders are determined to raise awareness and money to support the American Cancer Society's mission and save more lives than ever before from breast cancer. Every dollar raised helps the American Cancer Society save lives from breast cancer through early detection and prevention, innovative brea...st cancer research, and patient support. Thanks to the passion of our Real Men Wear Pink supporters, we're able to make a huge impact on the mission to end breast cancer. I believe in pulling community members together in supporting the American Cancer Society. I have been nominated to serve as one of Rochester’s Manbassadors for Real Men Wear Pink. Here is a brief overview: Real Men Wear Pink gives men a leadership role in the fight against breast cancer. Community leaders around the nation use the power of pink to raise awareness and money for the American Cancer Society's breast cancer initiatives, including innovative research, patient services, and education around screenings and risk reduction. It's one important way we're attacking cancer from every angle. As a member of NYSUT’s Board of Directors and the Greece Teachers Association President, I am hoping to spread the word throughout New York in hopes of increasing support for Real Men Wear Pink and the American Cancer Society. My donation page link is below if you would like to make a monetary donation. Checks can be made out to the American Cancer Society and sent: Greece Teachers Association c/o: Brian Ebertz 120 Erie Canal Drive, Suite 320 Rochester, NY 14626 Please feel free to contact me with any questions! ~Brian Ebertz [email protected] or [email protected]

New York State United Teachers and the United Federation of Teachers today demanded that state health officials issue clear protocols for how and when school districts must close their buildings, and how health officials will perform contact tracing and initiate quarantines in the event of a positive COVID-19 case in a school this fall.
