Last night instead of training, members went through the village to clear hydrants that had been covered with snow from the recent storm. Most hydrants were already cleared. But we wanted to make sure they all were. This saves us valuable time in the event of an emergency.
*Update as of 10:23 am- water will be turned back on by 10:30 am. Water will be discolored and may be air in the lines, run water until it runs clear. This shou...ld only take a short time. Thank you for your patience. *Update...... water will be off starting at 9:30. Hoping for a quick fix but as with these situations it often is hard to give exact amount of time. Looking for it to be no more than 2 hours. We will keep updating. This is effecting parts of Green St and North, including Crestmont, Turner and Juliand/Cty Rd 32. There is a potential water main break at Crestmont and East Juliand. Crews will be evaluating the situation and further updates will be made. There will be an interruption in water service in the area if there is a break. More information/updates will be made available Monday morning.
As you are cleaning up from the recent storm please make sure ALL vents are clear of snow both at ground level or up on your roof. Check those CO and smoke detectors!!!! They will save your life.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the New Berlin FD.
Hometown Holidays 2020 Friday, December 4th It’s a Crazy year, so let’s do it up a little Crazy-like!... The Tree Lighting Ceremony will be a CRUISE-BY ceremony. Cars will do a cruise-by to see the Christmas tree lights and Santa. NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO PARK AND STAND BY THE TREE!!!!!!!! We must keep it moving and feel free to honk as you drive by. So how does this work? We will begin lining up on N. Canal St. at the Fire Dept (Facing Genesee St) BEGINNING at 5:30 p.m FLASHERS ON. Please make sure to leave enough room for residents to get in and out of their driveways and around the intersections. We will have a lead car, any guesses who it will be? We will follow the lead car and fire truck with Santa on board for a tour of the village. Make sure when we pass the library that you wave to some special helpers, that will be watching the procession. Once Santa and the cruise-in reach the tree, Santa and a couple of helpers will light the tree. After waving to Santa you can continue home or park and visit any of the shops or restaurants that are open. With all the concerns of COVID and for the safety of you and your families, we ask that you please remain in your cars. If you would like to see the tree by walking around it, then please choose a different night to do so. We would also encourage you to visit one of our restaurants and shops that will be open during this event, however we again ask that you refrain from walking around the Christmas tree for this night only. On future nights when around the tree, please remember to social distance and wear your mask. We greatly appreciate your participation! Our wonderful community strives to keep you connected, keep all of us safe and keep traditions alive during these times. If you are not able to join the cruise-by ceremony, check for a Facebook Live feed. Also, if you are unable to join us but see Santa and the cruise-in passing your house, please step outside and wave as they go by. The Santa Hut will be open this year beginning Saturday, December 5th, at 10:00 am! All Covid guidelines will be followed. You can sit on the hay bales and talk with Santa! He will be wearing a mask, just like you! You can also drop him a letter in the mailbox, which will be located in front of the Santa Hut! Santa’s visitation time will be posted.
