Church of The Heavenly Rest 02.05.2021

This Easter, our community gathered online and safely outdoors. It was joyful, it was moving, it was filled with hope. Thank you to everyone who joined us (especially the joggers and dogs!), we can't wait for more events like this during the spring and summer.

A new episode of The Future of NYC is live today! In this episode, the Rev. Matthew Heyd sits down with Charles King, Founder and Executive Director of Housing Works. King shares his story of how he came to be at the forefront of Act Up! In the eighties in New York City, fighting for housing rights for homeless people dying of HIV, and went on to found Housing Works. Both pastor and advocate, King is currently at the center of transforming housing for homeless people infected with COVID using a harm-reduction model, often cleaning rooms for residents himself when no one else will do it. Follow this link for the Housing Works site: https://www.housingworks.org/

Since the pandemic began, BRC has expanded its services and adapted outreach to respond to a changed landscape in New York City. He will lead us in a discussion about what we face in our current moment, and the future of New York City.
