Last Saturday a new show opened at the Emporium Gallery: The Bridges of High Falls. The reception brought in about 70 people. Here are the pictures from the event. The show will be up till Mid May. Hours are Sat & Sun 11-5. The highlight of the show is a large section of the High Falls Bridge that was recently demolished, with graffiti on both sides. The people of the High Falls Conservancy and Wired Gallery managed to preserve it and bring it into the space. Congratulations!

We hear that a few gnomes have chosen High Falls Emporium to be their new home. There will be a welcoming ceremony on Saturday, April 8 following a reception at 5:00 p.m. at Wired Gallery, just a walking distance from the Emporium. They are called "Power Gnomes" because at night, they glow. They are the creations of the nationally-recognized sculptor Sam Tufnell, who works out of a studio in Manhattan and Ellenville. We invite everyone to join us and cheer the historic arrival of the gnomes in High Falls.

The High Falls Conservancy will host the second of its "Stories of High Falls" gatherings for residents and friends to listen and share stories and memories of days gone by in the hamlet of High Falls. This coming Saturday, February 11, the High Falls Conservancy, in collaboration with Wired Gallery, opens The Bridges of High Falls, at the High Falls Emporium with a reception from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Everyone’s invited! The exhibit includes photographs of seven historic bridges across the Rondout Creek since 1796, two original iron nameplates of one of the early bridges, and a large section of the recently removed bridge tagged with graffiti that had been hidden from the public until this exhibit. If you missed the recent demolition of the latest bridge, you can watch a looping video that shows the demolition from start to finish, including the final implosion of the superstructure. We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday.
