Tomorrow ( April 1st) Starts Our Kidding Contest We have 5 girls pregnant..dues dates start April 22 and go through April 30th. We don’t have a due date for 1 of the girls. This years kidding contest we will have 2 different parts..... Part 1: we chose 2 of the girls - Kellie and Kecia for this part. You need to guess how many babies and the sex of the babies that each girl will have. Post your comment for each girl on her picture- which are in a separate post... Those who guess correctly on how many babies and the correct sex of them- will then give name suggestions for those babies. We then will be giving the name suggestions to our grandchildren to pick the name...if the name or names you suggest are picked, you will get a bar of goats milk soap for each name. Part 2: the 3 other girls ...Kelsey, Toffee and Venus We will take name suggestions when the babies are born and give the suggestions to our grandchildren to pick the names from the suggestions....if your name or names suggestions are picked you will get a bar of goats milk soap for each name. Today- April 16th is officially the start of our kidding season. Our first due date that we have is Kellie on Thursday April 22nd... but as I’ve said I dont have a due date for Venus. She is quite secretive about those things... being in heat, being pregnant, and going into labor . I will keep a close eye on all the girls and especially Venus... stay tuned..... the fathers are waiting too!

Breeding season is over! Kellie & Kelsey went back to the girls barn Then Marley went back to the boys pen Then Venus & Toffee went back to the girls barn... In the girls barn some of the goats were put in different pens then before breedings season... So all the girls that are hopefully pregnant are loose in the barn and not in pens... So when I went to feed them tonight- (last picture) I put a feed bowl down and they all ran for it not realizing I put two more bowls down after that ..lol So now we watch the pregnant girls grow sometime in mid January we will ultrasound the girls to confirm pregnancy and maybe see how many they are going to have ... We saw 4 out of 5 of the girls come in to heat, so we use the date of heat as a way to determine their due date..they are pregnant average 150 days ...They can deliver 5 days early (145 days) or 5 days late (155 days) without much concern.. Nigerians tend to go 145-150 days ..but either way we watch closely for signs from them as they get close to their due date So the due dates (150 days) we have are : Kelly April 27th Toffee May 2nd Kecia May 3rd Kelsey May 5th Venus ? ....and then we look forward to Spring
