Hillel posted their newest population estimates for Jews on campus, and there are some interesting changes: Biggest decreases: York University (lost 1,200), UCLA (lost 600), McGill University (lost 500), Biggest (and only) increases: Syracuse University (gained 300) and Tufts University (gained 100)... Interestingly, Brandeis University lost 216 and is now down to (only) 34% Jewish! That leaves it just barely ahead of Barnard, Tulane, and LIU (all 33%) for the most Jewish non-Jewish college We've had to change our mapping platform (stay tuned for more info on that) but let us know if you want to know more!

Shameful. There’s no excuse to fight against Kosher food for Jewish students on campus it’s just anti-Semitism!

Thanks to all of the Juniors, Seniors, and parents who joined us at last night's Jewish Life On Campus Night, highlighting the importance of considering Jewish ...life on campus when making college decisions. The evening began with an interactive presentation by Rabbi Hart Levine, Founder of Heart To Heart, a student-run organization located on college campuses throughout North America under the umbrella of the Orthodox Union’s Jewish Learning Initiative On Campus, that offers many forms of Jewish programming. Rabbi Levine demonstrated the various online tools that he and the OU have developed to help students learn about the Jewish resources available at more than 270 colleges across the country, from kosher food to the phone number of the local Chabad Rabbi, and more. Following Rabbi Levine’s presentation, a group of MTA alumni, who are currently attending colleges from Yeshiva University to Cooper Union, Brandeis, and Virginia, described the Jewish life and experiences available on each of their campuses. Afterwards, everyone participated in break-out sessions, where alumni answered questions about their respective campuses and Rabbi Levine worked with participants on researching Jewish Life at the colleges they are interested in. The university just started a full Kosher dining program in their new dining hall open to all students! That makes them the 57th university in North America with such an option. The Forward just released their 2018 rankings of colleges, so we figured it'd be a good time to republish our comments from last year - which are mostly still true.

Arizona State University becomes the 54th college to offer a full Kosher meal plan for all students! It also features Chick-In, a kosher restaurant on campus. Looks like we’ll have to update our numbers, as Hillel has been inflating their numbers of Jews in college. Can’t say we didn’t see this coming And good thing that’s not even close to the only thing by which we rank colleges’ Jewish life!
