Finally acknowledging women’s considerable contributions to art history, the museum has hung a trio of paintings by Dutch women artists Judith Leyster (c. 16001660), Rachel Ruysch (16641750), and Gesina ter Borch (16331690) alongside their better-known male counterparts.

'El Saadawi was the founder and president of the Arab Women's Solidarity Association and co-founder of the Arab Association for Human Rights. In 1981, she founded a feminist magazine called "Al-Moawgaha" (which translates to "The Confrontation").'

Nawal Saadawi, a renowned Egyptian psychiatrist and novelist who's been described as the Arab world's leading feminist, has died in Cairo.

‘All this language of the need to protect, the need to root out other children from bathrooms and locker rooms, is hard to square with reality. As with the introduction of bathroom bills, the anti-trans argument is a red herring. It is another example of conservatives standing athwart progressive social change in the name of protecting childrenlong a hallmark of right-wing reactionary politics.’

‘Up until the 1500s, brewing was primarily women’s work that is, until a smear campaign accused women brewers of being witches. Much of the iconography we associate with witches today, from the pointy hat to the broom, may have emerged from their connection to female brewers.’
