Joan Cergol for Huntington Town Board 03.12.2020

Good morning and thank you, again, Huntington! It's time to clear our streets and neighborhoods of lawn signs. If you were kind enough to display one of mine on your property, please go ahead and put it out for recycling (separate the paper cover from the metal frame- each go out on the appropriate recycling days). My team will be working to retrieve them as quickly as possible. #AdiosLawnSigns #TimeToMoveOn #LetsDoThis!

Election Day is here, and I humbly ask for your vote today so I can continue to enjoy the privilege of serving you as your Councilwoman. Polls are open from 6am-9pm. Please don't forget to vote! Today is also the last day of what has been a long and arduous journey- for all of the candidates. First, I want to acknowledge my fellow 2019 candidates, who, like me, have stepped into the public realm to serve.... It's not easy, and with all of the time, money, effort, physical and mental energy expended, there is no certain outcome. At one of our candidate debates I turned to the other candidates and noted to my "brothers and sisters" that I was spending more time with them than with my own family! So to all of you, my sincerest best wishes. And now, I want to thank the man who has had to watch me in fast-forward for the past two years, coming and going, but mostly, going. Greg Cergol. During our 33 wonderful years of marriage, Greg has stood by me unconditionally in steadfast support, even as I inched toward risky pursuits, such as starting my own business in the mid 90's when our daughters were still very young, up until now, running for elective office, twice in two straight years. Few realize the impact our running for elective office has on spouses, significant others, children, family, friends and volunteers. It's immense. It's hard to even describe right here. But I can assure you for them it involves many sleepless nights, untold anxieties, lost time with family, missed celebrations of special occasions, dining alone night after night, and more. My husband Greg and our grown daughters Emily Cergol and Kristina Cergol, are the reason I am able to do what I do. As a mother, it has always been important for me to show our daughters, by doing, that anything is possible, every dream worth chasing, even if, and especially when, it's the hardest thing you will ever do. So to Greg, Emily, Kristina, family, friends and hard-working volunteers, thanks for all of the sacrifices you've made and time you've spent to allow me this chance to do the hardest but by far, the proudest thing I've ever done. Your belief in me is what has pressed me forward undaunted, even on the most difficult of days. That, and the kind words of encouragement expressed by my constituents and government colleagues. You have no idea how much you lift me up and how your words humble me. Long after this election is over, your love, faith and grit will remain with me. And now, today is up to the voters. How fortunate we are to live in a democracy and great nation that gives the power to the people. Please don't forget to exercise yours. With gratitude, Joan DeVito Cergol

Winning the endorsement of our press corps is an important distinction for any political candidate. These dedicated journalists cover our work all year long and then at election time give us an opportunity to discuss our vision and credentials to serve in elective office. They pose the tough questions and should. Thank you to the Times of Huntington/Times of Northport (TBR Media) for your endorsement this week. I am proud that my track record and work ethic have been recognized in such a meaningful way.
