NY Governor Andrew Cuomo's announcement of a historic green energy initiative provides well-needed affirmation for the Green Economy Network, a collaborative effort anchored by JobsFirstNYC, @GreenCityForce, @TheHOPEProgram, and @NEWStrongWomen. This partnership is developing a citywide network that will build consistent career paths to good jobs, with focus and priority on inclusion. The mayor's announcement outlined plans for a 26 billion public and private partnership and will offer an unprecedented opportunity to train and educate a diverse workforce in New York. Governor Cuomo projects that this plan, the largest in any state in US history, will yield over 17,000 well paying jobs for New Yorkers. #SOTS2021

Building an inclusive green economy in New York City requires understanding the knowledge and skills needed to most effectively execute sustainability, climate, resiliency and circular economy priorities, while also growing a sustainable pipeline of good jobs. As New York City and State implement plans for climate and equity, the time is now to understand and align data, policy, practice, and workforce and economic development, and build a community of practice and purpose among organizations and people working in this space.

We’re asking @NYSEDNews & the Board of Regents to let all HS students return to high school in 2020-21 to finish earning a diploma. https://advocatesforchildren.org/node/1533... Andrew Cuomo

JobsFirst NYC's Kevin Stump writes in the Gotham Gazette "Coronavirus Threatens to Perpetuate Generational Inequality, Leaving Young People Behind -- Yet Again" He writes: "If we have learned anything from the Great Recession just a decade ago, it’s that young adult generations that enter the labor market in an economic downturn are at a serious disadvantage, impacting their ability to successfully launch a career and reach financial security and self-sufficiency like the generations before them. Members of the Millennial generation, people who came of age during the Great Recession, make 20 percent less in wages and have a net wealth that’s half as much as their Baby Boomer parents."
