60 Seconds of Serenity (#185): Each day I am sharing 60 seconds of nature to help take the edge off during these stressful times. The soothing sound of Lake... Ontario’s lapping water in those early morning hours. Found terrific serenity at the Chimney Bluffs this morning in Huron, NY in Wayne County. I visit here often and am never disappointedwhat a treasure! Thanks to Vertigo Drones for the guidance in flying the Typhoon H Plus. See more

The majority of cases at this time point to community spread in general, which makes wearing masks and socially distancing, as well as avoiding large gatherings, even more important. It solidifies our information that spread is occurring among those who may not yet know they are sick and are out in public without using protective education that we have been providing for months. There have been several instances of family members spreading the disease to one another, even in ...the same household. But community spread is the largest contributor to our current total positive cases, as well as the current increase in daily cases. The contagious period of this virus starts approx 2 days before symptoms, thus making people able to spread this virus while still asymptomatic. Spread is very high risk when in closer spaces to a positive case. The virus is spread in droplets from a person's coughs, sneezes, and even when speaking and breathing. Masks are the most helpful way to prevent spread among someone who is contagious but does not yet know it because it keeps those droplets in close proximity to the already positive person.

June 30, 2020 The water level is 246.85, essentially where we were last week. The dry week ahead should help us decline despite the drop in outflows to protect ...shipping. The fireworks are now cancelled at the request of NYS. We have said all along we would follow their guidance. Based on some rises in positive test results around the state, they have requested that we cancel the event. As a result there will be NO Independence Day celebrations in our village. The village office will close at 1pm on Thursday so that the employees can attend the memorial services for Cody Cook. The offices are also closed on Friday, July 3 and Monday, July 6 for Independence Day. Due to COVID-19 CDC regulations the bathrooms at both the county park and Willow Park are closed. The village had a porta-potti placed at Willow Park which has proven to not be enough. There is now a second unit on site and we fared well through the weekend. The county has added two more at the county beach as well. I can’t explain why porta-potti’s are okay and the bathrooms need specific cleaning. All of the trash cans have been placed. They are spread around the village more so that we can cover areas where trash and litter collected in the past. Please encourage your friends and neighbors to use them. We seem to have more litter on the ground this year, even near trash cans. The annual Blow Off Day celebration is expected to take place on July 8th. The sheriff will implement the plan successfully used for the last couple of years. Expect educational road blocks in the morning and a large police presence during the day. We have begun weekly calls with NYS DOT and other agencies on the storm water project. We need to get to the final design soon in order to stay on schedule. The agencies are being generally supportive and we are making progress each week. The DEC permit application for the balance of the beach dune project is expected to be submitted this week. It is currently in local review. We hope to bid this project in August and need to have the permits in place to do that. Village tax bills and water/sewer bills can be paid both online at: https://soduspoint.info/online-payments/ or in the drop box behind the fire hall. The village offices will remain closed to the public. We plan to open up to the public on July 7th. Feel free to call or email with any questions or concerns. Please practice social distancing and stay safe so we can continue to open! Dave McDowell [email protected] Village of Sodus Point P.O. Box 159 Sodus Point, NY 14555
