CENTRAL ADIRONDACK CO- KIWANIAN OF THE YEAR 2019-20 CARMEN MASTROIANNI AND ROBERT TEESDALE Old Forge, NY; Sharon Finkle-Kleps President of Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks announces the recognition of Club Members Carmen Mastroianni and Robert Teesdale as Co-Kiwanians of the Year for Program Year October 1, 2019 to September 30, 2020 In recognizing the Co-Kiwanian’s, President Sharon Finkle-Kleps stated; Over several years Carmen Mastroianni and Bob Teesdale have b...een Kiwanis representatives and Board Members of the Kommunity Youth Activity Center (KYAC) in Old Forge. NY Carmen a Kiwanis member since 2012 and Bob a member since 2010 have devoted many hours to the organization and management of KYAC. Improvements in the facility and financial condition of the organization have been just a small part of their contribution to the children of their Central Adirondacks. In 2006, Central Adirondack led the way in creating the Kommunity Youth & Activity Center (KYAC). KYAC is a separate Not-For-Profit 501 (c) (3) organization that provides a space for after school activities. In January 2006; the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks sponsored a town meeting that demonstrated over whelming support for the concept of a Youth and Activity Center for the area. Following that meeting a Committee of Kiwanians and other interested people from the community and KYAC was created.

ALANA HAEHL RECOGNIZED AS KIWANIS STUDENT OF THE MONTH FOR FEBRUARY 2021 Old Forge, NY: The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks is pleased to announce that the Student of the Month for February is Ms. Alana Haehl. Alana is the daughter of Donald and Deborah Haehl of Old Forge, NY and a Senior at Town of Webb Union Free School in Old Forge, NY In 2007, the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks, with the cooperation of the Town of Webb School, initiated a recognition pr...ogram for Senior Students at the school. Due to the current virus situation, there will be no formal presentation. Alana has received an Award Certificate and $100 Scholarship to be used for further education. Alana has been the only girl member of the Boys Varsity Golf Team since the 7th grade. She has played varsity volleyball as a Setter and was selected as a Center State Conference All-Star for 2019-2020 season and also played Varsity soccer. Alana is a member and President of National Honor Society, Treasurer for both Student Council and Varsity Club, she is an active member of Key Club, and has completed more than 110 hours of community service. Alana is a member of the Relay for Life team, a member of Drama Club and Science Club, and has participated in Art and Travel Clubs. She has been awarded the Bausch and Lomb Science Award and received the Augsbury/North Country Scholar Award and was a 2020 Empire Girls State Attendee. Alana plans to major in Political Science and Government in college. Alana’s sister Alexandra was Kiwanis Student of the Month in November 2013. Each month from October to April a Town of Webb School selection committee chooses a Senior Student of the Month. Those students are each awarded a $100.00 Scholarship.

ALISON RUSSELL RECOGNIZED AS KIWANIS STUDENT OF THE MONTH FOR JANUARY 2021 Old Forge, NY: The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks is pleased to announce that the Student of the Month for January is Ms. Alison Russell. Alison is the daughter of Patrick Russell and Karen Otto of Old Forge, NY and a Senior at Town of Webb Union Free School in Old Forge, NY In 2007, the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks, with the cooperation of the Town of Webb School, initiated a rec...ognition program for Senior Students at the school. Due to the current virus situation, there will be no formal presentation. Alison has received an Award Certificate and $100 Scholarship to be used for further education. Allison has been a member of Builders and Key Clubs since 7th Grade and was Treasurer in 10th Grade. She has been Treasurer of Class of ‘21 for 3 years and is a member of Science and Drama Clubs. Allison joined the Old Forge Fire Department as a Junior Member and is currently training as an EMT. She plans on attending college to major in Emergency Management and would like to become a Firefighter. Many in her family have been involved in Fire and EMS activities for many years. Each month from October to April a Town of Webb School selection committee chooses a Senior Student of the Month. Those students are each awarded a $100.00 Scholarship. In May, the Kiwanis Scholarship Committee will select a Kiwanis Student of the Year. In addition, The Town Webb Police Benevolent Association (PBA) partners with Central Adirondack Kiwanis in the Student of the Year award and a PBA Student of the Year will also be selected. The Kiwanis Student of the Year and the PBA Student of the year will each receive $500.00 and with parents be invited to a Kiwanis Recognition Event for award presentation. The selection criteria for the Kiwanis Student of the Month are Community Service, Academics, Athletic Involvement, Student Need and Extra-Curricular Activities.

SKYLER MADTES RECOGNIZED AS KIWANIS STUDENT OF THE MONTH FOR DECEMBER 2020 Old Forge, NY: The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks is pleased to announce that the Student of the Month for December is Ms. Skyler Madtes. Skyler is the daughter of Jeff and Rhonda Madtes of Old Forge, NY and a Senior at Town of Webb Union Free School in Old Forge, NY In 2007, the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks, with the cooperation of the Town of Webb School, initiated a recognition... program for Senior Students at the school. Due to the current virus situation, there will be no formal presentation. Skyler has received an Award Certificate and $100 Scholarship to be used for further education. Skyler studied dance with the Center Stage Studio in Boonville. Skyler played soccer and volleyball, is a member Key Club, Student Council and National Honor Society. She participated in Travel Club, a Christian Youth Group, and on the side takes care of her grandfather. Skylar plans to attend Penn State to major in Business Administration. Each month from October to April a Town of Webb School selection committee chooses a Senior Student of the Month. Those students are each awarded a $100.00 Scholarship. In May, the Kiwanis Scholarship Committee will select a Kiwanis Student of the Year.
