Busker Busker released their first album in 2014 after participating in the music competition show Superstar K3. He released his first solo album after his military conscription in 2019. Hey everyone! We hope everyone had a relaxing and healing weekend with everything that has happened. Today we are going to talk about this popular Korean baked good known as lunchbox cakes. You've probably seen them all over your instagram if you follow any Korean bakeries. These cakes are smaller than normal cakes and are decorated with colorful frosting to create simple yet cute designs. The name "lunchbox cakes" comes from the fact that these small cakes fit inside a lunchbox rather than requiring the usual large cake box. What would you put on your cake box?

Hello everyone! This week's #ArtistSpotlight is artist Park Re-hyun. Park Re-hyun learned art under occupied Korea and escaped Seoul with her husband to Gunsan. While the couple would eventually move back to Seoul but while in Gunsan Park Re-hyun created "Open Stalls" and "Early Morning." During this time her art experienced a shift away from depicting women towards a more simple art style, reflecting the shift in her country. In her later life, her art style went through another change as she experimented with a more abstract style. Unfortunately, Park Re-hyun was known through her husband, artist Kim Ki-chang. Kim Ki-chang was an artist who was deaf and this would lead to Park Re-hyun to create multiple art pieces around her experiences in lip reading and interpreting for her husband in Korean and English.

Hello everyone! Today's post we will be talking about the March 1st Protest. As many of you know, Japan colonized Korea and instated a brutal rule. The March 1st, known in Korean as , was a protest organized in Seoul. Thousands of people, religious figures, and students poured out into the streets until one of the earliest examples of Korean resistance to Japanese rule. There were also several demonstrations in other Korean cities, all of which were brutally suppressed ...by the Japanese government. In modern time, the day is considered a national holiday. Though often called a make-up artist, Dain Yoon is actually a trained painter who uses herself as a canvas to create her whimsical looks. Hello everyone! This week's #KPopRoundUp artist is half of the duo AKMU Musician Lee Suhyun. Born in 1999, she debuted with her brother as the duo AKMU in 2014. In 2015 she formed a subunit with fellow singer Lee Hi called Hi Suhyun. After her brother went off to the military for mandatory service, she began to promote as a solo artist. Hello everyone! This week we are featuring the #KDrama Netflix's #SchoolNurseFiles (2020). The drama features Nam Joo-Hyuk (Weightlifting Fairy) as the teacher, Hong In-pyo, and Jung Yu-mi (Train to Busan), as the school nurse, Ahn Eun-young. The story follows Ahn Eun-young as she sees jellies that come out of every living person. She is the only one who sees these jellies which take the form of whatever emotion one might be feeling. Along with Hong In-pyo the unlikely pair come together to protect the high school from these monsters.

Hello everyone! This week's #ArtistSpotlight is potter Kwon Dae-Sup. Born in 1952, Kwon is known for his moon jars which are sephrerical jars, often tampered at the either end, in white. This type of pot is a traditional Korean pot done mainly during the 17th and 18th century, brought into the modern conscious by Kwan's artful skill. Despite the pots simple appearance, the process is surprisingly difficult yielding only 4 to 6 works a year. Kwon's works are world renowned and collected by several, notably #BTS's #RM who posted on Twitter about the artist.

Hello everyone! This week's #ArtistSpotlight is the famous King Sejong. He is our oldest #ArtistSpotlight to date being born in 1397 and ruling Korea from 1418 until his death in 1450. He is credited with the creation of the Korean language, . King Sejong was the fourth king in the Joseon Dynasty and is known to rule during Korea's Golden Age. Under him, not only was invented but he promoted education in the science and arts. Thanks to the creation of more people were able to read and writing wasn't just relegated to the upper class or government officials. He was also known as a reformer who helped improve the lives of peasants and established relief programs during times of famine.

Hello everyone! Time for #KPopRoundUp! This week's featured artist is BLACKPINK. They debuted in 2016 under one of the big three, YG and exploded onto the K-Pop scene with their explosive songs "Boombayah" and "Whistle." Later in the year they came out with another hit song "Playing with Fire" and a ballad type song "Stay." In 2018 they went on their first international tour alongside the song "Du-du-du." The group is made up of four members; Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rose.... Jennie has broken off to release a few solo songs and Lisa is known for dancing abilities in the K-Pop sphere. Hello everyone! Happy #Chuseok! As we talked about with our #WOTD Chuseok is often times considered the Korean Thanksgiving. Some food that people make during Chuseok are songpyeon (), doraji namul ( ), modeum jeon (), and galbi jjim (). Songpyeon are half moon shaped rice cakes and come in a variety of colors such as white, red, and green. Doraji Namul is an assortment of sautéed vegetable side dishes such as spinach, carrots, and bell flower root. Modeum Jeon refers to the variety of Jeon or Korean pancakes which can include shrimp, zucchini, squash, spam, and stuffed perilla leaves. Galbi jjim are braised beef short ribs.
