The Lackawanna Police Dept. is in the process of starting a new program to help fight crime. We are looking for business owners and homeowners who have video surveillance systems showing exterior footage that may be useful in an investigation. (wireless cameras, ring doorbells Etc.) All who participate will remain anonymous. The database will include the name, address and phone number of the participant and will only be available to the Police Dept. This program is voluntary and with your assistance we can all help fight crime. Please contact any Detective at 827-6411, 827-6402 or 827-6495

A family of Rubber Duckies are here visiting some of our Western New York parks!! Unfortunately some have gotten lost!! Can you help our local Police Departments find all the ducks? The Lackawanna Police Department is participating in a WNY Rubber Ducky Scavenger Hunt along with other police agencies. Each department has hidden rubber ducks in their local parks. The LPD thought this was a fun, safe and active way to engage with the community during the pandemic. Please do not take or touch the ducks so everyone can enjoy the hunt during the pandemic. The LUCKY DUCK you are looking for will have the Lackawanna Police patch proudly displayed. Take a picture of him and submit the picture to the Lucky Duck Facebook page to be entered for a prize!

"I think bail reform is going to carry with it a death count," said Judge Vincent Dinolfo. "Some of the people who overdosed and died may have been reached."

As a Law enforcement agency the LPD tries to keep the public informed on some of the changes in the law. As you can see the post with the cash bail reform was not a joke. We appreciate all comments, even some of them telling Law Enforcement how the LAW works. The LPD implores you to contact your local State legislator if you disagree with these changes in the law. With that the LPD will inform you on another law that will certainly not please. If a suspect is arrested and ...charged with burglarizing your home, It is his right, along with his attorney to return to your residence with a Police escort and view the crime scene to inspect and possibly photograph any evidence for his defense. That is just one example, this could also be applied to robbery, rape, Etc. Again please don't kill the messenger. Contact your local State legislator. See more
