New York is known as one of the most influential cities in the world and like any other city, there are still areas that need support, physically, financially, mentally, and spiritually. The 10 Zip Codes project aims to identify how we can further assist these 10 most affected areas in the City. Our hope is to one day impact EVERY zip code in New York. We believe that with God, all things are possible! To learn more about this initiative, you may visit https://lead.nyc/10-zip-codes-project/#about-zip

As the Director of Advance, Annette Cutino oversees all LEAD.NYC’s leadership development initiatives like Advance Leadership Intensive, Advance Internship Experience, and The Global Leadership Summit partnership. In her role as Sr. Director, Team Development for Movement.org, she oversees the team's development, organizational initiatives to engage conversations with age, gender, and culturally diverse voices and act as special counsel to the CEO/President. In all, Annette...'s goal is to see healthy leaders and healthy organizations fulfill their unique missions. Fun Fact about Annette: "From as early as I can remember, I wanted to be a lawyer. Whenever I’m advocating for a family member's health care or a leader's development- I’m reminded that being an advocate is probably one of the things I most enjoy." We love you, Annette!!

There are going to be times in our leadership roles where we will fail people, but that's a vital part of the growing process.

Our hearts are bereaved regarding the senseless murder of Daunte Wright. Daunte's life here on earth mattered, just as his soul matters to God. As we lift his name in our prayers, we can't help but think of his loved ones including Daunte’s infant son, his parents who now have to bear the burden of burying their 20-year-old son, and all other loved ones who are in deep mourning.... Lord, we ask that you extend your hand to his family and loved ones during this time, for we know you are near the brokenhearted. The continued brutality that we've seen disproportionately towards the Black and Brown community needs to be addressed in all sectors, including the church. As the Lord says in the opening chapter of the book Isaiah, may we, the community of God, seek justice and correct oppression. Silence and complacency are not an option. #dauntewright #justicefordauntewright #sayhisname

Who said Advance Leadership Intensive sessions aren't fun? During ALI, we practiced the concept of Delight and Surprise (from Brad Rex, Former VP of Disney’s Epcot) for leaders in this past week's cohort by recently mailing each leader a few items and notes including a MILLIONAIRE candy. Peter Ong, Living Faith Community Church, and LEAD.NYC staff member got a little creative with his Zoom background, which delighted and surprised us in return. We Love Our ALI cohort!

As a part of MDNYC last week, we had everyone create a timeline of all that had happened this year to see how God has moved through the challenges, victories, and transitions 2020 has presented. Here's what Susana Rivera-Leon of Sanctuary Church and Latino Pastoral Action Center (LPAC) had to share about her team's experience: "Last Friday, I did the timeline exercise with my staff; it was very emotional for all of us. For many, it was the first time they had reviewed how much had happened in the last 12 months ... they could see the tremendous grace and mercy over their life. We had one COVID-19 survivor with us, and it was beautiful when he realized that he survived because God still had a purpose for him on this earth." Feel free to leave a comment sharing what you took away from that exercise!
