Wind energy is the largest source of renewable generating capacity in the US, with capacity having more than tripled in the past decade. It also supports over 100,000 jobs across the 50 states. Get the facts on wind energy: http://bit.ly/2SNB2Y3
Wind energy performs in extreme temperatures, even when the Polar Vortex brings temperatures below 0 to Western New York. When cold weather places a higher demand on electricity infrastructure, wind power rises to meet that challenge.
Lighthouse Wind is proud to have donated over $3,000 to Community Action of Orleans and Genesee, to help serve low-income and disadvantaged families in the area. We’re also excited to announce we have awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Austin Dick, a senior at Lockport High School who plans to study music education with a minor in jazz studies at Roberts Wesleyan College. We’re grateful for these opportunities to help support local New York communities. Read more: http://bit.ly/2GH5Cfu
The proper use of science is not to conquer nature but to live in it. Barry Commoner, Biologist and Professor
Since 2008, wind energy capacity in the United States has tripledand doesn’t show signs of stopping. Help put Western New York at the forefront of the clean energy future!
Your community is important to you, and it’s important to us. Wind energy brings revenue to small towns and helps them grow.
Research studies found sound from wind turbines have ‘established no adverse health effects,’ said Peter Thorne, a professor and head of the University of Iowa’s Department of Occupational and Environmental Health. Claims of adverse health effects caused by wind turbines are neither supported by scientists nor by medical experts.
Wind energy is not only one of the cheapest sources of electricity, it’s one of the safest. Help New York’s next generation grow up healthy by keeping harmful pollutants out of the air they breathe and the water they drink.
The Environmental Health Sciences Research Center has collaborated with the Iowa Policy Project to debunk some of the health-related myths surrounding wind energy. Did you know, for instance, that beliefs and what people are told about the risks and benefits of wind turbines have a major impact on reported health, whether or not a person is actually exposed to turbine-like sound pressure?
There’s a lot of wind and weather analysis that goes into building a wind farm, but there’s an art to it as well. Happy National Weatherperson’s Day to all the weathermen and weatherwomen throughout America! We couldn’t do what we do without you.

Coal, natural gas, and gasoline all release pollutants and carbon dioxide into the airwind energy doesn’t produce these atmospheric emissions that cause acid rain, smog, or greenhouse gases. Wind and other renewable energy sources are the healthiest means to generate electricity.
