A little history of our current headquarters location in Ozone Park. Sometime after the creation of the Corps, it was determined that its then HQ in the Lindenwood Garden Apartments was insufficient. The property at the corner of Crossbay Boulevard and 133rd Avenue was purchased in 1971 and we utilized the storefront until the early 1990's when we moved upstairs to the 2nd floor apartment, in order to create a better revenue stream for the corps, which has remained to this ...day. The building was built in 1928 according to NYC, and over time saw many businesses and tenants. One notable tennant was Jean-Louis Lebris de Kérouac (March 12, 1922 October 21, 1969), also known as Jack Kerouac, who was an American novelist of French Canadian ancestry and is considered one of the pioneers of the Beat Generation. He wrote his first published novel, "The Town and the City", and began the famous "On the Road" around 1949 while living here. Below are are a few pictures from the 1940 NYC Tax Photos Archives (https://1940s.nyc/map#13.69/40.7093/-73.99397) and others were pictures of the building since. Lastly, the plaque that was affixed to the building (which was later stolen and never recovered) As we celebrate 50 years of service (1970-2020) we are happy to be a part of history of this building and our community. Do you have any old pictures of this building or the early days of Lindenwood VAC, please share them with us.

The Officers and Members of Lindenwood Volunteer Ambulance Corps, wish you and your families a very safe and happy Independence Day!! Please be safe this holiday, NEVER Drink and Drive, take a taxi, or ride share service, or designate a driver. If you plan to utilize fireworks this evening, remember safety. Never handle a firework while lighting the fuse. Have spectators keep a safe distance away. Have a fire extinguisher or a charged hose on hand.... A reminder, in the confines of New York City, fireworks are ILLEGAL and you can be arrested and have fireworks confiscated by the New York City Police Department. Also, take a moment before lighting your propane BBQ to ensure all hoses are in good condition and there are no leaks. For Charcoal / wood grills, never squirt lighter fluid into an open flame. We spotted this on the pedestrian overpass at South Conduit and 88th Street in Lindenwood.. Thank you! We would love to find the creator of this masterpiece, as we may have a trinket or two to give them to show our thanks for thinking of those in EMS.

It's National EMS Week (May 17 - May 23). This week is set aside every year to honor those who provide our communities with pre-hospital emergency medical services. It is also pays solemn tribute to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to help others in time of need. It is also a time to make our communities aware of who we are and what we do. This year has been extraordinarily hard for EMS providers all over the world. Take the time this week and say thank you to your communities EMT's and Paramedics... It will mean a lot. From the Officers and Members of Lindenwood VAC, we wish all of our brothers and sisters in the pre-hospital care field, a happy and safe EMS week. We all learned the motto of EMS week "EMS STRONG" this year. Let's hope and pray for better times to come soon!

The Officers and Members of Lindenwood VAC are saddened to learn of the untimely Line of Duty passing of Colorado Paramedic Paul Carry, Aurora Fire Rescue and Ambulnz (a private EMS provider) from COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) virus. Paramedic Carry was one of many Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics who responded from other states to provide help to an overwhelmed EMS system during the height of the outbreak in New York City. He paid the ultimate sacrifice to help his fellow Americans, thousands of miles from his home. He is survived by two sons and four grandchildren. Paul’s family has requested privacy during their time of grief. We extend our deepest condolences to the Carry family, his brothers and sisters at Aurora Fire Rescue and Ambulnz who are morning his passing. Rest Easy Brother we have it from here.
