Winter blues got you down? This winter feels tougher than the ones before, the last pull through a crazy and exhausting year. Most people are feeling pretty burnt out and getting out of bed feels 10x harder. Here are some quick tips to help you get through the days! DRINK WATER DUH! Always make sure you’re hydrated. When it’s cold out, switch to a few cups of warm or hot water, add lemon too! EAT SEASONALLY! In the winter months, it’s best to eat warm hearty dishes and lots... of root veggies, not just carbs! Eating seasonally is important as you are consuming produce during its peak season, and therefore ingesting the maximum amount of nutrients. LAYER UP! When you’re body is cold, it’s more likely to become sleepier. Keep your space (functionally) warm, make sure you’re layered up outside. It’s super important to keep you chest, head and feet warm and covered! RUN A HUMIDIFIER! Especially when you sleep! If you have the heater on in your home, it’s drying you out! Humidifiers put moisture back in the air, making breathing easier. KEEP MOVING! While the temptation to hibernate all winter is strong, it’s important to keep your blood pumping! Try working out before your day begins or in the middle of the day. This will wake you up and improve your mood! KEEP TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF! Now is not the time to slack on body care! If you’re in pain, that will take away from your day! Keep up your regular chiropractic/massage/physical therapy schedule, even when you don’t feel like leaving the house (psssss we do virtual sessions for physical therapy and personal training).
