We are the drumbeat the rest of the rhythms are synching to. BUT WHO IS REGULATING US? In Jaguar Mother, we regulate each other, together. Much of mothering goes unnoticed. We have less mirroring than ever and the mirroring that we do have is partial- often masked. Our normal outlets, the little ways that we could take care of ourselves, are not easily available. Many of our children are in front of screens, with little social contact. Before 2020, we were already attempting to balance more roles than women ever have. We were already reckoning with the absence of intact intergeneration wisdom. We were already trying to figure out how to respect our bodies, nourish our children, and attend to our ambitions in the world, all at the same time. Now, these challenges are more dire. We are coming together to form a network of support, a common language, and a strong foundation so that we can be the steady center for our children. We need connection. Some snippets from Wednesday’s evening class. We focused on opening the front body as a way to hold a soothing space for our most tender parts. We unwound contractions so that breathe can move in to support a loving container for the contents of our experience. I believe a yoga practice should always involve tender loving care. . Dear All, The full moon is rising in Gemini on Sunday night. It will also be a lunar eclipse, which intensifies the energy of the moon.The full moon has a culminating energy and the eclipse brings about unconscious material to the surface so that we can gently be with our shadow. As we develop and grow our internal reality we begin to have the capacity to hold and tolerate big feeling experiences. We learn to slow down and react less so that the curiosity of our inner lives... can be seen and felt without jumping to conclusions or solidifying in emotional closures. This full moon eclipse in Gemini is about communication. Not just what we say outwardly but the inside voices that are speaking to us. What are the shouts and what are the whispers? Can we discern between voices that are harsh and which are loving nudges? As the energy intensifies over the next few days, can you hold big space, like the full moon, for what wants to show up and be seen and felt by YOU. The key here is to slow down, to be BE WITH and listen gently. ANNOUNCEMENT: My Family and I are off to South Africa. I miss my mom and dad terribly and need to go HOME.
