What is wrong with this picture? Answer: Nothing. If you see snow building up on a horse’s back or rump, you are looking at proof that body heat is not escapin...g through the hair to melt the snow, and their coat is keeping them properly insulated. Also, the best way for a horse to stay warm is by eating hay! The digestion process creates internal body heat keeping the horse warm. You can also see in this photo that the horse has access to a shelter, but is choosing to stay out in the snow and eat Photo credit: University of Minnesota

Help needed ( donations, sponsor or homes read below for details). There are a crazy amount of mustangs in kill pens right now. There was just 13 unhandled in a... Kansas kill pen it is very hard to find homes for the unhandled ones. The last 6 in the group of them had reached their deadline and were heading to slaughter but fortunately a great mustang group was able to bail them last minute. So now even though they are bailed they didn’t have approved homes. We found good homes for 4 of the 6 here in Northern NY leaving 2 sitting in the kill pen still without homes ( they are technically safe as they have been bailed but the longer they sit there the greater chance they have of getting sick and they build up lot fee’s). I would like to help them but it’s a big expense they need to go to quarantine, get a coggins and health certificate then trucking 1500 miles to NY. This is a big expense to come up with in a short period of time. If anyone is willing to help sponsor one of the 2 remaining mustangs or if you are a personal friend of mine that is suitable to provide a home. I will not recommend anyone I don’t know personally (internet does not count as personally) they will go with a strict contract. If anyone is willing to help sponsor or donate towards getting the last 2 that don’t have homes yet to NY so they can get gentled and find homes please reach out to me or PayPal link is below. I am willing to bring them here if it becomes financially feasible and get them gentled then adopted. I want to be sure you know that I am not a official rescue I just have a passion for rescuing American Mustangs. The thought of them going from wild and free to a dinner plate is not acceptable to me. Please consider helping me help these last 2. https://www.paypal.me/helpahorsetack
