Last chance to register! If you treat new or expecting mamas- you don't want to miss this Monthly Provider Seminar about Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). DBT was initially developed to target dysregulation across these five areas for individuals with multiple, complex problems, and has been adapted for intervention with many populations in which emotion dysregulation and emotion over-control are observed. DBT interventions and skills may thus be helpful for perinatal mood... and anxiety disorders (PMADs) in which issues of dysregulation and profound transition can play a key role. Recently, DBT programs that have been adapted to the perinatal population have emerged, though little has been published about the specific nature of the interventions utilized therein. Please join us on June 15th for our Monthly Provider Seminar during which Liza Rimsky, Ph.D., will provide a brief overview of the integration of DBT-consistent psychotherapy interventions with individuals in the perinatal period. www.bookwhen.com/themotherhoodcenterevents . . . . . . . . . #depression #anxiety #ppd #mom #postpartumdepression #ocd #motherhood #doctor #peditrician #therapist #therapy #md #primarycare #motherhood #survivingmotherhood #momquotes #postpartumjourney #motherhoodjourney #postpartumsupport #momstruggles #womenshealthcare #womensmentalhealth #postpartumanxiety #postpartumdepression #postpartumsupport #newmom #fourthtrimester #workingmom #sahm #workingmomlife #momstruggle

Being a mom is no joke. It’s physically and emotionally draining. You are always on - reading cues, providing entertainment, soothing cries, scrapes, and falls. Even with friends around with a baby and/or older kids, it can be downright exhausting. There is an old saying that we use endlessly here at The Motherhood Center... when you are about to take off on an airplane, you are instructed to put your own oxygen mask on before you put on your child’s. There is a reason for th...is. Unless we also take care of ourselves - we are of no use to our little one. So this weekend, and really every day, make time and space for you. Even if it’s just 10 minutes of locking yourself in your room and lying down, you have to take care of yourself in order to be able to take care of the ones you love the most. . . . . . . . . . . #depression #anxiety #ppd #mom #postpartumdepression #ocd #motherhood #mommyquotes #mommycommunity #postpartumlife#motherhoodquotes #postpartummom #motherhood #survivingmotherhood #momquotes #postpartumjourney #motherhoodjourney #postpartumsupport #momstruggles #womenshealthcare #womensmentalhealth #postpartumanxiety #postpartumdepression #postpartumsupport #newmom #fourthtrimester #workingmom #sahm #workingmomlife #momstruggle

If you are currently expecting or recently postpartum and suffering from moderate to severe mood and/or anxiety symptoms that are getting in the way of your ability to care for yourself, your baby, and/or function in your job - you may need a higher level of care than outpatient therapy can provide. We're so grateful for your continued support of @themotherhoodcenter. We wish you and your family a happy and safe holiday season. As a reminder, we're always here for you - through the bliss and the tears, through the moments that you feel invincible and the days that you think you are doing everything wrong we got you, mamma.

With the holidays here, we’re reminding you that you are allowed to leave a situation or conversation that makes you feel uncomfortable, sad, or triggered. We all have that aunt that constantly asks when you’ll get pregnant - but in reality, you’re struggling with your fertility, or your family friend who always talks about the joy of motherhood and how natural it came to her when for you - it’s been the most challenging thing you have ever done. It’s 2020 - and you’re allo...wed to respond however you feel most comfortable. Here are some options: Tell the truth: Actually, my husband and I are trying to get pregnant, but it’s been very difficult for us. Remove yourself from the situation: I’m sorry, I need to make a quick phone call. Leave: I’m not feeling so well I think I’ll head home early to rest for a little bit. Surround yourself with the people who support you, love you, and don’t judge you. And know that The Motherhood Center is here to be those things to you too. Graphic credit: @mellowdoodles

"Frontline workers are at greater risk for burnout and PTSD than the general population. Like all parents, they're worried about their own kids, socially, academically and emotionally while also fretting about the children who are falling behind in school because of the barriers to remote learning, and who may be grieving over family members lost to the virus. 'I'm seeing so much anxiety and depression, and a lot of it has to do with this terrible year.'" When parenthood happens, the difference between male and female reports of desire and satisfaction yawns wider. Why? Often, it's because a mom-specific script has stepped in. Cultural stereotypes about motherhood often fall into one of these seven ruts. First, moms deserve to relax. Basic prerequisites to relaxation include reliable childcare and equitable division of labor. As Dr. Birndorf puts it, "If we had some time and had some space, we'd all be in the freaking mood. Believe you're entitled to it, and then share this priority with anyone who can help make it happenyour partner, your boss, your parents.
