In a creative business, there is a joy in seeing your work "out there" where people are pleased enough to share photos and use what came out of your workshop. These beautiful tie-dyed shirts will be available at Buck Brook Alpacas, Inc. (Roscoe, NY) beginning July 4 weekend. The alpaca was hand-drawn by Cindy Herbert, a very talented Sullivan County artist. It was a bit of a gear shift this year, but the Callicoon Tractor Parade was held as a "virtual" event. Contributed photos made up the parade, keeping the spirit of the long-standing tradition going. The Tractor Parade is held each June as a fundraising event for the Delaware Youth Center in Callicoon, NY. (These shirts were worn by the staff that day during the barbecue pick-up.) Donations of fabric, elastic, and cookies have come in, as well as financial donations for the food pantry at the Livingston Manor Methodist Church. I'm happy to make masks for people I know well, some I'm just meeting, and others I might only meet through the mail and social media. I'm doing my best to get out all requests that have come in so far ... and, I am enjoying the experience of doing this with my community-based business. I've had some informative and touching conversations. (Special thanks to Robin Gershowitz for her ongoing generosity with donations, interest, and materials -- a true cheerleader!)
