Today, MFA's partner Kirk Humanitarian announced the availability of a new version of multiple micronutrient supplements (MMS), which is now Halal-certified for Muslim women. Last year, MFA provided over 200,000 expectant Syrian mothers with complete pregnancy supplements. This is a marker of significant progress for maternal nutrition in the communities we serve, and will lead to significantly improved birth outcomes. Today is World Health Day, a poignant event for those in Syria suffering so much. Nurses, doctors, hospital facilities have all been targeted by the Assad regime-leaving health care for Syrian refugees in ruin. With the long shadow of COVID added to this misery, World Health Day for Syrians is a day of mourning for those who need health care for their loved ones and face a bleak never ending struggle to get it- if they can find it at all.
