Yesterday 3rd Pct Officers responded to a home in #NewCassel with raccoons in the living room. Due to the holiday and time of night exterminators were unavailable so Officer Greg Turano safely removed them allowing the family with young children to go to sleep with peace of mind! #OTD in 1971, 22-year-old Patrolman Richard B. Rose was shot and killed while responding to a call of an armed robbery near South Farmingdale. The suspect was later arrested and sentenced to 25 years to life. #gonebutnotforgotten

#OTD in 1937 we lost Patrolman Arthur J. Klepper at the age of 30 when he was involved in a motorcycle accident while pursuing a speeding vehicle on Sunrise Highway in Bellmore. He had served Nassau County for 7 years and had 2 brothers who were also Nassau County Officers. #gonebutnotforgotten
On this holiday we also celebrate the life of Detective Kathleen M. Reilly who was struck and killed in the line of duty #OTD in 1967 while assisting a disabled motorist. Kathleen was the first female officer and later detective ever appointed to the department. #gonebutnotforgotten

Join us as we remember Patrolman Louis A. DeFrancesco who was killed in the line of duty at the age of 34 when his department motorcycle was involved in an automobile accident #OTD in 1957. Officer DeFrancesco was a WWII Veteran and had served Nassau County for 8 years. #gonebutnotforgotten
