We're so happy to give you an update on Oliver, Winston, Isabelle and Izzy straight from their new home. Hello everyone! I know many people have been interested to hear the continued story of Oliver, Winston, Izzy and Bella (Isabelle), which has now turned into a happy ending for what started out as a very sad story.... I read about these dogs in a story on Google News back in early March of this year and was so incredibly moved by their journey from losing their dog mom and dog granddad from COVID 19 - to ending up at the Nassau County SPCA. I knew from past experience of adopting rescue pets that it is very difficult to place two bonded animals, let alone four. In the past, I have had as many as five dogs at one time, but was currently down to just two, a 13 year old Shih Tzu (Kiwi) and a 9 year old Fox Terrier (Jane). Kiwi grew up with several Labradors that my late husband and I had so he was used to big dogs. Jane gets along with any other dog so I knew I likely wouldn’t have any conflicts with bringing four new ones into the household. I put in an application to adopt them and fortunately, the folks at Nassau County SPCA were kind enough to not only approve me for the adoption, but drive them the whole way down to the bottom of Pennsylvania, along with a dog trainer, to help integrate them into my home. The trainer was a tremendous help and I am forever thankful for all his knowledge and insight. All of the representatives from the Nassau County SPCA have gone above & beyond to make this BIG adoption work out and have been so incredibly supportive of me and the dogs, in every which way. I am able to work from home for the most part, so I spend most of my time with all the dogs, which I feel has helped to make the new ones feel safe & secure. Despite a couple of very minor disagreements, all six dogs have meshed together as two herds blended into one and have all found their individual places with each other. I LOVE having Oliver, Winston, Izzy & Bella here with me and I'm so thankful that I was able to give them a happy fur-ever home!! They have a big fenced yard to play in, lots of toys and too many treats!! There is absolutely NOTHING to rival the devoted love of a rescued pet - even FOUR at one time! There are so many out there that deserve a second chance, or even a third or fourth, of a good & loving home. Please consider adopting a rescue or shelter pet, it’s a win-win!!! xoxo, Linda We did it! Keeping these pups together and finding their perfect forever home was a huge challenge. We certainly couldn’t have done it without your support. THANK YOU for helping us keep our promise to Jennifer!

It may be too late to help the countless puppies that didn’t make it out of a pet store. And it may be too late to help the many that lost their lives just days after leaving a pet store... But you can make a difference NOW by helping the 11 puppies who've made it out and are now fighting to stay alive. We need your help! Several puppies are in critical care. Many with severe respiratory infections. Medical expenses for our last pet store rescue reached over $39,000. Without... your support, these rescues are not possible. Please consider making a donation towards their care. https://nassaucountyspca.org//campaig/one-time-donation-2/

THE'VE LOST EVERYTHING When we met these four dogs named Oliver, Winston, Isabelle and Izzy it was to temporarily help their owners who were affected by COVID. At that time, their mom was hospitalized with the virus and her father, who was also battling COVID, was home caring for the dogs. Normal day-to-day care of the dogs became impossible for him and although difficult to part with his daughter's dogs (her babies), he knew it was the only way he could get better and help ...his daughter recover. We assured him they would be waiting right here for her when she got released from the hospital. A day after we took the dogs in, the father was also hospitalized and sadly, passed away a few days later. We were all so hopeful the daughter would recover and she would have her babies to come home to. Unfortunately that reunion will never happen as Oliver, Winston, Isabel and Izzy lost their mom this past week. They've lost everything. It breaks our hearts when we look into their little faces and they are asking when they could go home, but we are determined to keep those tails wagging. **Please consider making a donation to help with the care of these four sweet pups until we are able to find them loving homes. https://nassaucountyspca.org//campaig/one-time-donation-2/
