June 14 is Flag Day. On this day in 1777, the Second Continental Congress passed a resolution that declared the creation and design of the U.S. flag. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson declared #FlagDay a national holiday.

June 6, 1944, Allied troops landed along the heavily-fortified French coastline, to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy. Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which we will accept nothing less than full victory.
