The Chiefs, Supervisors, and Dispatchers of Nassau County Fire Communications regret to announce the untimely passing of Michael "Biggs" James, Dispatcher #63. In addition to dispatching at Firecom, Mike dispatched at many other agencies including Bethpage, Hicksville, Plainview, Manhasset-Lakeville, Baldwin, Hempstead PD & FD, Syosset, and FDNY. Mike was also a member of the Hempstead Fire Department. He will be moved Friday, December 18th at 11am from Mount Sinai South Na...ssau Communities Hospital and taken to Carl C. Burnett Funeral Home, 456 S. Franklin St., Hempstead. Funeral Services Tuesday, December 29th at 10am Shiloh Baptist Church, 96 N. Centre Ave., Rockville Centre. This will be a brief memorial; he will then be taken on a procession through Hempstead, passing MLK Dr, Victory, East End & Southside Firehouses before heading out east to be cremated privately. We shall miss Mike dearly and send our thoughts and prayers to Mike's family as well as all the first responders who were guided by him.

October 28th celebrates National First Responders Day, a day to honor the men and women who act quickly and skillfully when an emergency is at hand. Thank you to all Police Officers, Firefighters, EMTs, Paramedics, Dispatchers and Fire Marshals across Nassau County and across the country.

Late last night, Fieldcom-1 was on scene at this 3-alarm house fire assisting the Garden City Fire Department.

Fieldcom-1 is down on the south shore assisting the Point Lookout Lido FD at the annual Town of Hempstead Independence Day fireworks celebration and salute to veterans.
