This is Thursday night prior to the Last Weekend in June and for a dozen years our fearless friends and creative collaborators would be spending this night celebrating, greeting guests, and readying the immanent launch of the annual (and magical) New York Faerie Festival. This would mark the beginning of the Festival! -three full days of music, magic, and merriment. ~Alas; it is not to be this year... Please forgive our lack of promoting and rallying, and planning online p...erformances and exhibitions. Those of us who work hardest at this effort have opted to treat the time like a sabbatical, sinking into the work that too often gets left behind. YOU can help keep the faerie connection healthy yourself by taking walks in whatever wooded or wildish areas that are around you and seeking signs of Nature's Wonders and evidence of fae beings. Indulge your Mythic Imagination and engage your Creative Expression. Practice Kindness and remember to return through the Faerie Gates in Ouaquaga next End-of-June for the New York Faerie Festival, 2021. See more
Warm May Greetings fellow faeries and human friends. As posted earlier, the New York Faerie Festival has been postponed until next year. Those who have purchased tickets and camping passports are entitled to a refund and here's how that can work. You may receive a full refund by paypal or check by notifying us at [email protected]. You may also contact us there to request a 'rollover' of your fees to next year and we'll keep you registered in our system as a paid participant. You may also (as some have) generously donate some or all of your fees to our sweet , struggling show. The choice is yours. The email again is [email protected]
It is with disappointment and consideration for everyone's well-being that we have made the decision to cancel this year's NY Faerie Festival. We were truly hoping to ride it out and hope for the best, but now we're convinced that even if we were allowed to have it, we would lose too much participation from either fear-of-mingling or lack-of-funds. We are still only a 'Break-even Festival' and carrying old debt. We cannot afford to have a year without enough guests. We hope you'll each join us next year in the Land of Faerie, joyfully and safely making the magic real.
Greetings Friends and Fellow Humans. These are challenging times and we are all hoping to avert hardship and crisis as we face a crippling pandemic. We here on the borders of Faeryland are in it with you. Perhaps it’s faerytale thinking, but we are still optimistic about being able to host a festival in three months time. While this pandemic and its associated challenges won’t be over and done by then, we hope that the worst of it will have passed and that the world will b...e seeking to normalize itself. Performers want to perform; artists want to exhibit; kids want to play We think that peoples’ Spirits will be craving the magic that Faerie Fest provides and we hope to have the opportunity to provide it. Time will tell, of course. If and when cancellation seems imminent, we will post broadly, far and wide. But we’re not there yet. Hope and Faerie magic spring eternal. Meanwhile, we are looking at ways that we, as a community, can support and connect with each other while we’re in this vulnerable place, and how we might continue to do that even if our whole festival season becomes elusive. Duncan is making some of our coloring book art into free downloads for those who have (or are) kids. Karen and Kate are considering how to facilitate a coloring contest I’m collecting stories and co-created Faerie Fest myths for a writing project you can get in on. We will still be out working on the land regularly (and with safe distancing). Collectively, we’ll get through this challenging and dangerous time. May we do so with wisdom, good hygiene, Grace, and Good Fortune. Plus, I hope we get to play at the NY Faerie Festival together See more
The Amazing Soolah Hoops ~once again appearing at the NYFF
Who are NYFF fans that write? Who can write an awesome article for an imaginary vintage-like newspaper straddling the Otherworld?
Last year the NY Faerie Festival hosted the world-renown Swedish folk-rock band, Jaerv, who are once again in the area and playing tomorrow (Tue.) night at the Bundy Museum, offering a rare opportunity to experience their truly amazing talents. In honor of that and for proof of their skills I'll include a link below to never-before-released video of Jaerv at the NYFF Masquerade Ball last year. Memories of Faerie are a funny thing. They tend to become all swirled about and clouded in mist. Here is a reminder of the spectacle of our procession!
