This week we're teaming up with The Joyce Theater to bring you a piece we did with them back in 2018. Titled "Dutchman," it is a fusion of two distinct fields of dance, Hip-Hop and Flamenco, and was one of our early attempts at combining the two to form a coherent, live work. Following the piece is a Zoom interview by choreographer Martin Santangelo and the two dancers in Dutchman, Marina Elana and Rob Wilson. We hope you enjoy.

We hope you enjoyed our previously posted videos. Today we will be sharing an extraordinary instrumental solo by David 'Chupete' playing a solo of castañets. This number was a part of Noche Flamenca's presentation of Entre Tú y Yo and was filmed at the Plays and Players Theatre in Philadelphia, January 2020. The first percussive instrument that David learned as a young child was the castañets. It's a very rare and unique solo because normally the castañets are played by flam...enco dancers. It's mindblowing. Enjoy! We would also like to give a shoutout to the medical staff and essential workers of New York, Spain, and beyond. Thank you sincerely from Soledad Barrio and Noche Flamenca.

Noche Flamenca and La MaMa have postponed the performances of Noche Flamenca's ANTIGONA that La MaMa was scheduled to present March 19 - April 5. The ban on travel from European countries announced last night by President Trump makes it impossible for company members to come from Spain to New York right now. The organizations are rescheduling the performances for sometime in the next few months and will announce the new dates as soon as possible.

The masks, based on the work of Mary Frank, are remarkable, taking on facial expressions like the shadows of clouds crossing the land." - John Osburn, 2015 We couldn't put on ANTIGONA without inspiration from Mary Frank, who helped shape the design of our haunting masks, transforming the show's entire emotional landscape.
