MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL UPDATE: Justin Topa (Rockland Boulders 2017-2018) got the call to start the fifth inning for the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night in their Wild Card series opening game in Los Angeles against the top-seeded Dodgers. With the Brewers trailing 3-2, Topa kept the Dodgers at bay over his two innings of work. In the fifth, he set down Justin Turner on a fly out and then induced groundouts from Max Muncy and Will Smith. In the sixth, Cody Bellinger led off... with a single, but A.J. Pollock followed by grounding into a double play. After Edwin Rios walked, Topa retired Chris Taylor on a fly out. Topa's line - 2 innings pitched with one hit allowed to go along with one walk. The Dodgers took game one of the best-of-three series, 4-2. Game two is scheduled for Thursday night in Los Angeles.

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL UPDATE: In his best outing of the season, former Rockland Boulder (2017-2018) Justin Topa pitched perfect fifth and sixth innings for the Milwaukee Brewers in their regular season-ending 5-2 loss to the host St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. Despite the defeat, the Brewers qualified for the National League wild-card round as the eighth-seed and will open the best 2-of-3 series in Los Angeles against the top-seeded Dodgers on Wednesday.... Topa's six-up and six-down outing on Sunday included strikeouts of Paul Goldschmidt, Dylan Carlson and Harrison Bader. For the season, in six appearances, Topa pitched 7 2/3 innings and allowed seven hits and two earned runs (three total runs). He did not walk a batter and struck out 12. Topa wrapped up the regular season with a 0.91 WHIP and 2.35 ERA.

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL UPDATE: Former Rockland Boulder Justin Topa made his fourth appearance of the year last night (Monday) for the Milwaukee Brewers, tossing 1/3 of an inning. After Cincinnati's Mike Moustakas hit a two-out, three-run home run off of Drew Rasmussen to give the host Reds a 6-1 lead, Topa came on and gave up a single to Aristedes Aquino before getting Nick Senzel to ground out to end the inning. ... The scoreless outing lowered Topa's ERA to 4.15. Topa pitched for Rockland in 2017 and 2018. Cincinnati defeated the Brewers, 6-3.
