A puppet musical exploring the private lives of New York City’s rats, rodents, and mice. A tarot-inspired stage show incorporating electronic dance music and ‘90s R&B. And a podcast musical about an impromptu road trip taken by two teenagers, one of whom is vision impaired. These are just a few examples of work that one group of #NYU musical theater students has produced during their year in quarantinetogether. Fourteen artists living together under one roof sounds like the premise of a reality TV show, but for the 'quaranteam' of NYU Tisch School of the Arts grad students living and working together in a multi-level townhouse, it's home.

Dr. Lori Wiener (SSSW '79, '88) has helped lead an international effort to create the first-ever evidence-based psychosocial standards of care for children and families living with cancer. It’s a badly needed roadmap leading from diagnosis through survivorship, or to end-of-life care and bereavement. Dr. Wiener has taken this journey thousands of times, witnessing love and resilience in their purest forms. It is not a tragedy, but a privilege, she says, to be allowed into the lives of these children and each of their family members. In honor of #MentalHealthMonth, read more about this #NYUAlumniChangemaker, who has dedicated her four-decade career to working with children diagnosed with cancer and pediatric HIV/AIDS: https://bit.ly/33GIUP6

As President Hamilton has often written this year, 2020-2021 will stand apart in #NYU's history. Never before have we completed an entire academic year with a hybrid teaching and learning setup, remote work, physical distancing, and a host of safety protocolsfrom masking to testingagainst the backdrop of a pandemic and other national and global crises. And yet, thanks to the dedication of our university community, academic life proceeded uninterrupted: researchers made new ...discoveries and artists created new work; faculty, students, and staff garnered prestigious honors and top prizes; NYU and its schools moved up in several rankings; and we received a record number of applications while admitting the most diverse new class in NYU's history. As we look forward to having more of us back together on campus again, here's a look back at some other milestones and accomplishments from this challenging year: https://bit.ly/3brcxYK See more

New in research from #NYU: A school-based cavity prevention program involving nearly 7,000 elementary school students reduced cavities by more than 50 percent, according to a study led by researchers at NYU College of Dentistry. The study demonstrates the success of a school-based model and its potential to reduce health disparities and save federal dollars.

Whatever happens over the next few days, let us be guided by our community's values. An important Election Day reminder from President Hamilton: "From across ou...r community, I hear a great deal of trepidation: fear about whether the election will involve intimidation or even violence, concerns about its legitimacy, unease about the future, worries about whether we can ever be the just society we should be. I understand your apprehension, and I share it. In the coming days, as votes are cast, let us draw patience, steadfastness, comfort, and perseverance from one another. As we wait for the outcomeand wait we may well have tolet us be guided by our community’s values: faith in the power of truth and facts, a commitment to free speech and dispassionate reason, belief in respect and inclusion, a longing for justice, and confidence in the democratic process." http://spr.ly/6182H6MOi See more
