We understand the community is very interested in when they will be eligible to receive the COVID vaccine. Oswego Health has fully followed the priority levels provided by the Department of Health. At this time, our primary care offices are not distributing the vaccine for their patients. More priority groups will be able to be receive the vaccine in coming months during phases two through five but there is no word on when that will happen. Did you know that we have Nuclear Medicine Technologists here at Oswego Health? Nuclear medicine is a medical specialty involving the application of radioactive substances in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Nuclear medicine imaging, in a sense, is "radiology done inside out" or "endoradiology" because it records radiation emitting from within the body rather than radiation that is generated by external sources like X-rays. Pretty neat, huh?! Well, we'd like to give a ...little shout-out to Kathryn, one of our Nuclear Medicine Technologists who has been at Oswego Hospital for 3 years now as she truly is an employee who has stepped up throughout this pandemic. Not only does she work for her department but she has been eagerly cross-training in MRI to have more imaging experience under her belt and to be able to assist whenever needed! So join us in giving kudos to Kathryn for her willingness to collaborate and help! Also while working full-time at Oswego Health, Kathryn is taking advantage of our tuition reimbursement program and is currently working towards her Masters in Healthcare Administration at Southern New Hampshire University, with a goal of one day working in the Finance Department.
