Owego Fire Department

On the night of Wednesday January 13, 2021 Owego Fire responded with New York State Police to a motor vehicle crash on Glen Mary Drive. Upon arrival of Deputy Chief Boland found one car on it's roof, with no occupants, and two other damaged vehicles. After a search of all 3 vehicles, no one was found in or around the scene. After investigating the vehicle that was on it's roof was traveling towards Talcott St, crossed the on coming lane went through a yard, launched off of a ...retaining wall striking 2 parked vehicles at a local business, landing on the rear of the Escalade and pushing it approx. 30 feet. While hitting the retaining wall, it launched the bricks forward, some landing as far away as 70 feet in the neighbors lawn. One of the bricks went through the rear window of a parked vehicle shattering the back window, and starring the windshield. With the assistance of the Tioga County Sheriff's Office the driver was located at the corner of Cove St and Talcott St with no injuries. Owego Fire would like to thank the following for their assistance at the fire early this morning. Owego Emergency Squad, Owego Fire Dept ESS, Campville Fire, Apalachin Fire & Squad, Tioga Center Fire, South Side Fire, Nichols Fire, Tioga County Haz Mat, Tioga County Fire Coordinators office, Tioga County Sheriff's Office & Dispatch, Weitsman's Operational staff. We appreciate great inter-department teamwork getting the blaze of over 150 vehicles under control, and to the Weitsman's staff for picking the pile apart for us to hose down each vehicle individually. Amazing teamwork all the way around!!

Owego Fire is currently on scene at Weitsman’s on Main St for a large pile of cars on fire. Main St is closed from Williams to Academy St at this time. Please avoid the area. Apalachin and Campville Fire are also on scene to assist.
