Local six-year-old Elliot has turned a rainy day project into a widespread charity initiative. What started as a gift bag for a friend with COVID-19 has evolved into Elliot hand-making many gift bags for children diagnosed with COVID-19, donating them to Fox Pediatrics to give to patients. "I think I want to be known as the Gift Bag Kid," he says. Elliot hopes to expand his donations to pediatric units at Bassett Medical Center and Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital in Syracuse. Thank you, Elliot, from the bottom of our hearts, for your kindness and generosity! Read more and learn how you can help Elliot: https://www.bassett.org//gift-bag-kid-gives-fun-and-compas

She went on to publish the 'Book of Medical Discourses', one of the very first medical publications by an African American, that shares of her journey and challenges in the medical profession. #BlackHistory
COVID-19 mRNA vaccines teach our cells how to make a piece of a protein to trigger an immune response and build immunity to the virus that causes COVID-19. mRNA does not affect or interact with a person’s DNA, and the cell breaks down and gets rid of the mRNA as soon as it is finished using these instructions.Learn about mRNA vaccines and how they work. https://www.cdc.gov//2019-ncov/vaccines/differen/mrna.html

COVID-19 vaccine myth buster: MYTH: The COVID-19 vaccine is giving people severe side effects. FACT: Both COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna) are showing short-term mild or moderate vaccine reactions that resolve on their own. Keep in mind that these side effects indicate that your immune system is responding to the vaccine by deploying your antibodies to recognize a copy of the virus your body is doing what it’s supposed to do! Early-phase studies of the Pfizer/BioNTec...h vaccine show that it is safe. About 15% of people developed short-lived symptoms at the site of the injection. Half developed systemic reactions, primarily headache, chills, fatigue, muscle pain or fever lasting for a day or two.
