Happy Kwanzaa, everybody! From today until January 1st, communities all over the country will be celebrating the rich, profound history, culture, customs and traditions of African-Americans. Introduced in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga, Kwanzaa commemorates several different facets of African-American culture, including its seven core principles: unity (umoja), self-determination (kujichagulia), collective work and responsibility (ujima), cooperative economics (ujamaa), purpose (nia), creativity (kuumba), and faith (imani). From all of us at Pequa Physical & Aquatic Therapy, we hope everyone celebrating Kwanzaa from today to January 1st enjoys seven fulfilling days of health, happiness, family, community and joy!

Aquatic therapy is an innovative, ultra-modern way to provide effective treatment, streamline recovery and ultimately: to heal our patients. Have truer words than this ever been spoken? An astonishing number of us seem to forget every day that we’ve only got one body. We fill up on junk food, compromise our sleep, cancel our workouts or just assume that we’ll be perfectly healthy forever. But it’s important to remember that we’ve only got one body, and it’s absolutely critical to treat it with reverence. That’s part of what makes physical therapy such a meaningful practice - helping people eliminate pain and achieve the full potential of their bodies (the only one they’ve got) means a second chance to fully appreciate the importance of staying healthy and active. You only have one body, so be good to it! To begin working with one of our physical therapists, contact Pequa Physical & Aquatic Therapy today!

We love treating athletes, and when they have persistent bodily pain or unidentified injuries, it can devastate their ability to participate in their favorite sports. And while the injury may initially seem like one thing, it’s very often something else entirely. One of our patients, Christina B, came to us describing a knee pain that was steadily worsening within the past two years, and compromising her ability to participate in volleyball. Following a thorough evaluation, o...ur physical therapists identified the actual source of the knee pain - her hip. We soon confirmed through MRI imaging that the pain had originated in her hip and eventually traveled down her leg, ultimately finding its way into her knee. Her treatments involved a concentration of strengthening and stabilizing by the hips properly - which helped Christina get back on the court and spiking it over the net in no time! Pain doesn’t discriminate based on age - everyone from young, dynamic athletes to senior citizens is susceptible to it, and can benefit from focused and individualized treatment. Do you have a persistent physical pain that’s affecting your day-to-day life? Contact Pequa Physical & Aquatic Therapy today!

Physical therapists are experts in identifying problems with our body’s natural biomechanics. Very often, they identify deficiencies in our bodies that we had no idea were there. They concentrate on specific areas of vulnerability, or improper alignment, to restore our optimal strength and mobility. At Pequa Physical & Aquatic Therapy, our physical therapists aren’t just healers, they’re also educators. All of our patients leave their treatments not just feeling better, but knowing better. To get started with one of our physical therapists, contact us today!
