From the Police Accountability Board Alliance: The Rochester Police Accountability Board has announced its decision today for the position of Executive Director! We are pleased to hear that after over a hundred applications and a long process the PAB has chosen Conor Dwyer Reynolds, a University of Rochester and Yale Law School graduate. In his time as a clerk, Conor has handled cases regarding police misconduct and discrimination within police departments towards officers o...f color. Conor also has extensive work in environmental law suing polluters and in protecting homeowners from predatory foreclosures while maintaining a presence here in Rochester with his work researching redlining and discriminatory housing practices with the City Roots Community Land Trust. I attended a conference today as a member of the press, and was treated abhorrently. I was repeatedly harassed by Mike Mazzeo for simply standing there. I was o...ne out of two of Black press who attended. And we both were harassed by Mazzeo repeatedly. He asked who we were with and we verbally told him multiple times. He refused to leave us alone and said we were disrupting the press conference when in fact he was causing a scene by constantly harassing and badgering us. Mind you, there were many white press there with iPhones as cameras and no press badge on. They were either not asked for their credentials or asked once, gave a verbal response, and their word was enough. Why did Mazzeo only harrass and want to see a physical badge of myself and the other Black woman doing press? Why was our verbal response not enough like it was for the white press? After several advances toward me, Mike Mazzeo physically advanced on me; forcibly grabbing my arm. He attempted to physically remove me A BLACK WOMAN out of the press conference. Mazzeo PHYSICALLY advanced on me unprovoked to drag me to God knows where. As a white man who helps orchestrate the violent, white supremacist organization that is the RPD, I was terrified that this is the person who was forcibly grabbing a woman’s arm, my arm. Mazzeo is hell bent on justifying the murder of Daniel Prude and I would not be surprised if he would justify brutalizing me should it have gotten to that point. I am so traumatized. I am so triggered. I cannot believe this white man who is WELL outside of my weight class forcibly grabbed me unprovoked and harassed me specifically for being apart of Balck media. I am so disgusted. He is a monster. He is a racist. He is a white supremacist. He is a murder apologist and needs to resign immediately. See more
