Calling for creative and enthusiastic college students who are eager to gain experience creating online workshops and earn college credit while making a difference in our community. Campus closures because of Covid 19 can mean more than just a switch to online classes many college students are also separated from non-academic activities and interactions that take place on campus. From social activities and sports to concerts and clubs, the college experience has changed a l...ot over the recent months due to the coronavirus outbreak. College is often a time of growing awareness of community needs and enthusiasm for activism. One activity you may be missing out on is the opportunity to get involved with causes you're passionate about and groups you want to help. Roost Studios, non-profit art organization in New Paltz, is creating a unique opportunity for teams of college students to create workshops in an area of the arts they are passionate about (music, dance, poetry, drama, visual art etc.) and present them as free workshops for children ages 10-15 whose families are challenged with working and schooling from home. College Students, This is an opportunity to: Utilize your skills and knowledge Grow personally and professionally through connection with an established non-profit for the arts Build your resume, get college credit and collect professional references Connect with an established non-profit for the arts Work in a time frame that fits into your schedule. Friends, conversation, art, and the strong sense of community are what made the annual Roost Holiday Gala & Art Show so special to us. We are definitely missing our biggest community show this year! It gave local artists of all ages an opportunity to show their work in a gallery to more than 200 people on opening night. The Holiday Gala was also Roost’s largest fundraiser. Together, we reimagined what it looks like to connect, create, and build community through the arts outside the traditional gallery space.
