Happy New Year dear friends, This week, we have two links for you to use. The first is the link for ordering, and the second further down below, is the link for our short survey. Please use both!... If you are not planning to order this week, please at least take a few moments to fill out the survey. It will go a long way to help us to serve you better! Here is the Link for this week’s menu. Please note the change in our ordering deadline. This is so we can order from our suppliers earlier in the week, and allow us time to find ingredients that our usual suppliers do not have on hand. Ordering deadline is WEDNESDAY 7PM. PICK-UP - for this week is still on SUNDAY. https://form.jotform.com/210026511106133 Let’s hope for a year in which the hard lessons of last year inform our steps into the new one. We’ve learned to value the simple things and invented new ways of connecting, sharing and spreading love that have spurred creativity around the globe. We wish you strength as you embark on this next chapter and we pray that goodness and honesty will prevail. So let’s start this year with a good honest meal, Spaghetti and Meatballs - nothing fancy, just delicious meatballs made with Yushak’s ground beef and sweet sausage and our homemade marinara sauce on a bed of fresh pasta. Green salad, a luscious garlic baguette and tiramisu complete the meal. Our special pizza this week is a White pie with organic spinach, local Feta cheese, and roasted red peppers and is available along with our usual menu of breads, cookies and chili. We’ve also included a customer survey to help us plan for the Winter months ahead. We’ll offer a greater variety of soups and stews as well as more cakes and pies but we’re hoping to hear from you with your choices for weekly meals. Also important is your feedback about pick up dates and times. We know our bakery/kitchen is off the beaten track. We want to make your pick ups both safe and convenient. Please take a moment to answer our survey. It will be greatly appreciated. Here is the link for our very short survey. Thanks so much! https://forms.gle/Rwy8gNJoAYMB9hkt5 Again, we thank you for your support, encouragement and your ordering with us. These are difficult times for so many people and small businesses. There is light on the horizon, but this is a very big ship to turn, but we are turning it. We love what we do, but without you, we would not have a business at all. You have kept us going Thank you, Scott and Lisa (I love this photo of Lisa’s clothing choice on this day!)

Hello Friends, we hope your home is warm and cozy during this spell of cold weather. This is a time when we need to be even more diligent in our safety and care for each other. Please stay safe Below is the link for ordering from our menu. If you need any help in using the form, please let us know. We are happy to help! https://form.jotform.com/203431463739153 This week’s dinner is one of our favorite cold-weather meals. Our Beef Stew is made with Vermont raised grain-fed be...ef from Black River Produce stewed with garlic, onions, herbs, carrots, potatoes, mushrooms, and red wine. A Winter salad with creamy garlic dressing add a third of a rosemary baguette to dip in your stew round out the meal. And for dessert? Whoa! A slice of Lisa’s chocolate mocha cake topped with whipped cream! What could be better! This week’s Special Pizza is a favorite from this past week, judging by its popularity - red sauce pie with house-made sundried tomato pesto, with chevre, and Kalamata olives. That is a whole lot of flavor! Our pizzas are made fresh every week and frozen immediately after packaging. If you ever need guidance on baking them at home, don’t hesitate to contact us We are working on a plan for holiday shopping for items we have available from the shelves of our café. We’re not quite there yet, but we want to bring your attention to the last item on our menu Gift Certificates! They make a perfect gift for someone who loves our food and would like to order for themselves from out menu. Much of what we produce can be preserved through freezing and folks can order ahead and stock their freezer for the upcoming winter season. Purchasing gift certificates helps us out as well. It puts funds into our account so that we can order ingredients and stock that are necessary for the cooking and baking we do for you. Purchasing gift certificates through our menu is easy. You simply give us the name of the person and the amount you’d like to gift and their email address so that we can stay in touch. We can even post your gift to your loved ones, especially if you live a distance from here and as a result, do not normally shop with us. So, please consider purchasing gift certificates for your loved ones. They will love it, and so will we! We hope that your upcoming holiday season is peaceful, joyous, and gentle. We must remain safe during this growing pandemic time. Certainly, news of successful vaccines is good news, but we are not there yet. Please stay safe And once again, we thank you for your orders, your support, and your kindnesses. You keep us going! Scott and Lisa

There is some sadness to see the space empty again. We've left the hall with a new kitchen and bathroom and we returned the front of house to its original state of empty shelves and waiting tables. It is clean and ready for the next cafe operator to open up the doors again and fill it with community members, music and conversation. And of course, good food and coffee! We hope this happens soon. We have so many fond memories of our cafe and we miss you all so much. We are also very happy to be home on the farm again, gardening, fixing, dreaming, planning, and baking and cooking for you in our bakery. Yes, we are content... The meal: Speaking of memories, we’re sure many of you remember your Moosewood Cookbook. We still have the remains of at least 2 copies of the original 1972 version. On page 69 of that volume is a recipe for Mondo Bizzaro. Mondo Bizzaro is basically a marriage of two traditional sauces, a fresh marinara and a basil pesto. The bizarre variations are endless but our favorite involves a delicious serving of eggplant parmigiana over a bed of linguini in tomato and pesto sauce. Friends, we have only 5 more tickets to sell for the Cambridge Fire Department raffle of a beautiful George Van Hook painting. The raffle is to raise funds for a long-overdue and much needed bow firehouse for our volunteers. The raffle drawing is on July 3, so this Sunday is the last day we will have tickets available. There may still be tickets at Battenkill Books and Country Gals Diner, but we’d love to sell out of our tickets! Can you help us? Thanks!

Hey there, friends, we’re already a week into June! We hope you’ve been enjoying the beautiful weather as we have been. For the first time in many years we’ve spent a lot of time our garden and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly during our week off but now we’re back and ready to make you some good things to eat. Last week, when we announced the news that we cannot re-open our beloved cafe due to being shut down completely by Hubbard Hall’s facility closure caused by the Corona vir...us, your overwhelming understanding and beautiful words of support brought tears to our eyes on many occasions during the week. We’ve always understood how much you appreciated having a cafe in the village, but your kind tributes to the hard work of our staff and the quality of our food truly came to light this week. We are grateful to you all and hope that our new way of serving you continues to make you happy. Thank you so much! This coming weekend June 12th and 14th you can order our regular menu of breads, cookies, muffins, scones and ready to bake pizzas. See our on-line order forms below. For Sunday dinner, June 14th we’re offering up one of our cafe favorites, Macaroni and Cheese! We’re adding tasty bites of Black Forest Ham and spinach and serving it with a fresh greens salad which comes with our most popular dressing, Balsamic Vinaigrette. We will skip the ham and add some sautéed mushrooms for a vegetarian option. Dessert is a mini strawberries and cream cake. The goodness in our cooking and baking is in our ingredients. In preparing this meal we’ve used Cabot Seriously Sharp Cheddar, Battenkill Creamery Milk, North Country Smokehouse ham, locally grown spinach, organic strawberries, eggs and garden greens and Pompanuck Maple Syrup along with other top quality products. Please use the links below to order for either, or both days. We look forward to cooking for you! Thank you for your support and encouragement. We are forever grateful! ~Scott and Lisa For Friday pickup: Ordering deadline is Wednesday, 6pm https://form.jotform.com/201603669762156 For Sunday pickup: Ordering deadline is Friday, 6pm https://form.jotform.com/201597942062155 #roundhousebakerycafe #cambridgeny #battenkillvalleyeats #cafelife #localfood #goodfood #honestfood #COVID19response #takeoutonly #curbsidepickup #staysafe #socialdistansing #doingourbest #flattenthecurve #bringcashorcheck #ourcafeisclosed #newideas #pandemic #pandemicresponse #newideas #creativeideas

Hello friends! This past week, we have taken a break from the bakery business to catch up with ourselves and to think about how to make our ongoing Round House Bakery plans sustainable. A few truths emerged during our discussions while "Spring"(we wish) cleaning and organizing. First, we really love to bake and cook for you, to offer produce from the family farm and we want to keep doing this. Second, we need to allow time for life’s daily demands and healthy life practices ...Continue reading

Dear friends, Today is the day we usually post our menu for the week ahead but instead of a menu this week this we’re sending a message we hope you’ll read. Like everyone else, we’re reinventing our lives. Every day we hear stories about people who have created ways to solve problems and to connect with each other. This is heartening. What we have found thus far in trying to keep our business operational is that it’s much more challenging than we imagined. (Isn’t everything?)... It’s a full time job for two people to do all of our cooking and baking and another full time job to manage the ordering, sales and pick-up logistics. Although each week things have run a bit better, we are still a ways from a sustainable system and we are tired. We’re hearing similar stories from our friends who run restaurants, cafes, bakeries and local businesses. Owners are trying to continue serving the public by themselves without the help of employees in a way which guarantees the safety of themselves and their customers. New systems are required and these can’t be developed overnight. Many businesses have taken a pause to design their new plans. Round House Bakery is being assisted in developing an on-line menu from which you can make selections more easily. This change will afford us the time to make more good food for you. In order to implement this positive move we will not be offering our wares this coming week. Under normal circumstances we would not expect our customers to be patient while we take a week off to pull ourselves together but under these circumstances, we must take a pause. We’ll install our new system, familiarize ourselves with it, create a sustainable menu and attend to our home and plant our garden at Pompanuck. We’ll also tackle a deep clean of the bakery, much needed for us to work efficiently and effectively. And we will take some time to rest- we hope. Thank you for reading and for your continued support and understanding of our emergent business plan. Please enjoy some of the many delicious menu selections offered by local businesses this week. You’ll be hearing from us next week with our new Round House Bakery menu. Enjoy the sun while we have it. We wish you the best of health, ~Scott and Lisa Round House Bakery #roundhousebakerycafe #cambridgeny #battenkillvalleyeats #cafelife #localfood #goodfood #honestfood #COVID19response #takeoutonly #curbsidepickup #staysafe #socialdistansing #doingourbest #flattenthecurve #bringcashorcheck #ourcafeisclosed #newideas #pandemic #pandemicresponse #creativeideas ~Please stay safe...
