All are welcome to join our Summer Reading Program! How it works: To sign up in person, come to the Schoharie Library between June & August 27 and fill out a form. Or go online: https://bit.ly/SchoharieSummerSignup And you get a free book from our donated books! Keep track of how many hours you read - you can use this online reading tracker form: https://bit.ly/SchoharieReadingTracker or just keep track on paper. Our community challenge is to see if everyone together can ...read 25,000 minutes ( about 417 hours) this summer! Make your own reading goal - try for 10, 15 or 20 hours, or even more! Having someone read aloud to you counts, and so do audio books! Come to the library to pick out a prize for every 2 hours of reading & a raffle ticket for the grand prize for your age group, plus a chance to win a big stack of books. Reach your goal over the summer and get a new book! For up to age 18, when halfway to your goal and again when you reach your goal, you get to pick out a book from the MVLS prize books! Adults can participate, too - count minutes spent reading to or with kids, as well as reading alone. You can borrow e-books and audiobooks available through the Libby app or our online database at https://schoharie.mvls.info/online-catalog/. For more Summer Reading resources, go to www.summerreadingnys.org. The last day to submit your summer reading hours/minutes is August 27. Then we’ll announce the results of the reading challenge and the grand prize winners! You're also invited to join our Discovery Tuesdays program weekly at 10am through August 10, as well as the Bracelets & More program on July 22 at 3pm. To sign up for any or all of these, click here: https://bit.ly/DiscoveryTuesdays

The Schoharie Free Library Board of Trustees would like to thank everybody who attended our board meeting last night and participated in a very constructive dialogue. We are working on our interim plan for the summer, and anticipate that training for our new employees with MVLS will begin sometime this coming week. We are actively seeking a new library director who will be a licensed librarian, but that process may take several months. We have heard the communities concerns ...regarding our governance structure and are planning to involve the community in long term strategic planning for the library beginning this fall. We still have two vacancies on our board and are seeking applicants (see post on this page or send message). Our next regular board meeting is next week, Wednesday, July 14th at 7pm. As always, the public is invited to attend our open meetings. The agenda will be posted ahead of time.

New bicycle racks have been installed at the Schoharie Free Library! The new racks were made possible through a SALT Community Development grant and a Dream and Do grant from the Mohawk Valley Library System (MVLS). Manufactured by Cycle Safe, the racks were selected to go with the 1850 design of the outside of the Schoharie Free Library. Installation of the bike racks was done by Tim and Vanessa Repicky family.... Thank you for to the Repicky family, SALT and MVLS for your assistance in getting the new bicycle racks!
