Permanent Mission of the Republic of Slovenia to the United Nations 25.01.2021

As we posted on June 22, Slovenia is among the initiators of Statement in support of the UN Secretary-General Guterres’ appeal for the Global Ceasefire The initiators of the Statement (Bangladesh, Ecuador, Egypt, Jamaica, Japan, Malaysia, Oman, Senegal, Slovenia, and Sweden) met today with the UN Secretary-General Guterres and have handed over the Statement that was endorsed by 172 member states. Slovenia hopes that all sides in all conflicts will take advantage of this time... and engage fully and in good faith with the UN representatives and others and advance towards sustainable peace, which all affected desperately need.

On June 26 1945, 75 years ago the United Nations Charter was signed, conceiving the United Nations organization as a means of saving the succeeding generations from the scourge of war. Having just lived through the hell and destruction of world war, the representatives of states signing the charter called for the maintenance of international peace and security, promote social and economic progress and better standards of living; strengthen international law; and promote human... rights. The UN Charter is the cornerstone of international law and sets goals and principles still just as relevant and important today as they were at the inception. You can view the message of global leaders, among them Slovenian minister of foreign affairs dr. Anže Logar, on the importance of the Charter today at https://www.un.org/pga/74/un-charter-day/ - where you can also follow the UN celebration, starting at 9 am EST (NY time). Ker so živeli skozi pekel in unienje druge svetovne vojne, so predstavniki držav, ki so podpisali Ustanovno listino pozvali k ohranjanju mednarodnega miru in varnosti, promociji gospodarskega in socialnega napredka in boljšim življenjskim standardom, krepitvi mednarodnega prava in promociji lovekovih pravic. Valentina Turcu - Springtime Reflecting on the dehumanizing reality of contemporary world we are creating a highly aestheticized and profoundly expressive interpretation of the unspoken that resounds in the very core in the Heart of Art. The endless power of magnetic Creation and Purity can move the heaviest stone, can transform the grey area of unkind human history. ... State. Statement. Loyalty, longing and belonging to an Ideal of Oneness and Adoration. Captured by effortless Beauty, drawn into the feeling of Freedom by fresh dynamic thrill of inspiration and everlasting connection between two Souls loving their Springtime moment that has the power of Unlimited desire. The magic that changes the world is in One hug from the whole Heart. Love is that Ultimate power that makes the difference. We have nothing to say when we speak sincerely from our Hearts. Hearts of Arts. (Choreographer: Valentina Turcu; Dancers: Sytze Jan Luske and Monja Obrul) #slovenia29 #ifeelslovenia

SILENCE In Memory of What is Yet to Come + Tractus On 19 March 2016, 13-year-old David Tomaži from the Šmartno pri Litiji Primary School launched a home-made weather balloon with the help of his father and friends. David found the sponsors for his project himself, acquired all the necessary permits and equipped the balloon with a camera, a GPS and measuring devices. The balloon rose 27 kilometres high, all the way to the stratosphere, before it blew up in the thinned air.... David published the spectacular footage of the balloon’s flight online. He called the project Tractus. David Tomaži: "This has always been my thing, I’d like to travel into space in search of other planetary systems, other planets. I’d like to see living organisms on other planets, if they exist. I’d like to live in a future where the environment is more valued, where people are more aware of its importance, where nations don’t compete among themselves, but are friendly, help each other and create together, in space and on land." The footage of the balloon’s flight was included in the programme of the state ceremony to mark Slovenia’s Independence and Unity Day in December 2017. The song In Memory of What is Yet to come of the Slovenian group Silence was performed by the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra. Pesem V spomin tistemu, kar se še ni zgodilo (In Memory of What is Yet to Come) slovenske skupine Silence je izvedel simfonini orkester RTV Slovenije.
