Giving a huge warm welcome to our new exec board member @pandaspeech !! Words cannot describe how incredibly generous and supportive @pandaspeech has been in so many ways!! She is always willing and ready to help with ANY project, has offered unlimited resources since our Peru trip and started making culturally responsive materials since Project Kenya last year. They are a 501c non-profit that provides therapy services to underserved communities (and so much more). I became involved with them when I collaborated with speech therapists in Ghana and Kenya to create functional vocabulary books for their students. It was an honor to get to do this and it was amazing to get to translate these books with meaningful vocabulary in different languages. When creating these types of materials, it is essential that you include images and words that are relevant to the children (things they would see on a daily basis). Right now I am working on three books for Uganda and have an awesome speech therapist there helping me! Check out the @smilesforspeech instagram account. They have links in their profile for their newsletter, to donate, and info on their current events (they have a free virtual workshop this weekend).
