At lastnight's meeting Steve officially stepped down as secretary/treasurer after 40 years. We can't thank Steve enough for his dedication and all he has done for the club over that period of time. Dean Foster did not seek reelection as president and Jolly did not seek reelection on the board. Paul Alexander also did not see reelection as vice president. Welcome our new officers: President ......... Adam Backus... Vice President .... Charlie Barnes Secretary/Treasurer .... Kristy Foster New Board Members Steve Hemstreet Tom Freebern Congrats to all. :)
So apparently the locks have not been changed as of yet. If need be, I will open the range tomorrow and stay there all day so people can access it. I will keep you all posted on the lock situation.
Happy New Year to you and yours.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.
We are doing a food drive to support local food pantries. If you would, please bring non perishable items and place them in the boxes at the range house. All donations are greatly appreciated. :) Thank you.
Respect. Thank you Veterans of every branch.
A HUGE thank you to all that participated in our Trunk or Treat and Haunted Trail. The event committee did a great job on this and we hope to make it bigger and better next year. :) We had quite a few trunks and kids which really surprised us. Many parents expressed their thanks for making sure the kids had a safe place to go for trick or treating and man ... Did they have ALOT of candy!! ;) We are not responsible for any sugar high's caused by this event.
SRGC MEMBERS! Come & participate in our Trunk-Or-Treat on Halloween. It’s gonna be from 3-6pm that day & all you have to do is bring your car/truck/whatever and hand out candy to the littles! You can help out our club & have fun too!!SRGC MEMBERS! Come & participate in our Trunk-Or-Treat on Halloween. It’s gonna be from 3-6pm that day & all you have to do is bring your car/truck/whatever and hand out candy to the littles! You can help out our club & have fun too!!
We need volunteers to help with our Haunted Trail on the 30th and 31st from dusk until 10pm. Anyone that can help, please let us know. We need help with directing traffic, food and drink servers or you could be a scary person lurking in the darkness!! We also need some help on final trail cleanup and setup. You can also be a trunk from 3pm-6pm. A trunk is where you park your car in the field, dress up if you'd like and hand out treats to the little ones as they will go car to car trick or treating. A safe and fun way for the kids to participate in Halloween this year. (Of course covid mandates will be followed) Please, if you can help or want to be a trunk, let us know. We need trunks badly.
FB won't allow us to post an event!! So here it is. If you have a business or know of a business that would like to participate in our Trunk or Treat on Halloween, from 3pm to 6pm, please contact Laura Backus ASAP. We are also doing a haunted trail walk on the 30th and 31st from dusk until 10pm. If you are willing to lend a hand as a spooky person or directing traffic, let us know. Cost of this event?? A donation of non perishable goods which we will distribute to area food banks. ;)
We need a few people to help remove 2 trees on the range side tomorrow morning. I know ... Short notice. We need two to direct traffic and one or two more to help remove the trees from the roadway as quick as possible. This is for the sign placement. Not big trees so it should go quickly. Looking to do this around 9am or so.
Anyone looking to do some 5 stand, here's one happening. I will post other dates in the comments.
Lots of shots on day one. I think we are on our way to providing target holders again. PLEASE keep the shots and your targets inside painted lines. The painted areas are the boards and posts. ;) We will be making more holders for the other berms. Once they are in, we will no longer allow other target holders. Also, no target holders outside the berms please. We are looking to improve the berms in the near future. We will be making some moveable target holders for the pistol area as well. A big thank you to Green Island for allowing me to see how to hang this belting easily and how the belting worked. Also like to thank Bill Hart for providing us with some belting to make this holder. :)
We assembled a target holder at the first berm late yesterday just to see how it will hold up before building others. Please keep your shots and targets in the center section and not on the painted areas. We hit it with 5.56, 9mm and a shotgun. Let's see how it well it holds up. :)
Great food for an great cause.
Here are the results of the BOD meeting. Moving web hosting and many other things for the club to one spot was approved. This will bridge the communications gap we so desperately need as well. You will like how easy everything will be to navigate very soon. WiFi will be installed in the range house. This will ensure wifi calling is available for safety as well as improve the experience at the Chicken Shoots as all shots can now be viewed on a TV. :) ... The BOD approved a dumpster for the range side which will make it easier to dispose of garbage when picking up the range and general trash. The BOD approved the purchase of a wood splitter for club use only. This is something that will greatly increase our ability to get the wood needed for the range house and camping use every year. The dues will be $75 for all renewals as of Jan 1st 2021. All NEW members joining after October 1st. This was on the questionnaire we have been handing out at the meetings and available online. 94.8% of those turned in wanted the increase so the club can do more renovations and improvements. We will soon have more to offer, make needed repairs and cover the rising costs of running the club. The BOD also put in place a "Senior's Membership" for those 70 and over to remain at $50 per year. Thank you for giving us your input and thoughts on this matter. It is not a decision the BOD nor the officers wanted to make themselves. It was your feedback and desire to see the club move forward that actually made the decision and we can all look forward to our club growing in the near future. :)
Anyone that resides in Kingsbury should be made aware of this. :)
This Friday Sept. 18th, the range will be closed from 9am until 4pm for a private instructional event.
Hi everyone! So. There is a questionnaire on our website I need ALL of our members to fill out. It has some important information that we need, and some responses from you all in regards to the direction that we want to take the club going forward. If you have already filled it out, then thank you. BUT. If you obtained your membership in ANY way OTHER than at a meeting, and/or you didn’t fill it out AT a meeting, or turn it in to me, chances are you haven’t filled it out. I ...seriously only have around 150 responses, and we have 600 members... So, PLEASE go fill it out quick and email it to me. It will literally take you 5 minutes, but those 5 minutes are VERY IMPORTANT to our clubs future. I’m pretty sure Laura made it so you could fill it out right online, and if you could please send it back in that would be fantastic!!! If you are wondering if you’ve already filled one out, you can simply send me a message and I’ll let you know if you did or not. Thank you so much everyone!!! Please share this as well so we can get as many responses as we can from our members!!! Like I said, this will help us GREATLY in figuring out where to go from here!!! Have a great Holiday weekend!! Kristy Foster SRGC
C’mon over! Going on now, come shoot the course for free and bring your friends. It’s a beautiful day, slight breeze, sun’s out... bring your bow(s) and get ready for the season! Open to the public and going on until 2pm. Have a great day!!!
Due to the prohibited use of what we suspect is tannerite today at the range, we are strongly considering making the use of the range ‘by appointment’ only. It is posted all over the clubhouse, as well as stated on our website, that the use of any explosive or reactive targets is strictly prohibited. We have fielded numerous phone calls today from irate neighbors stating that their windows are shaking and as Dean and I are currently at his daughters wedding ceremony. That bei...ng said, we WILL be stopping by later tonight, reviewing the surveillance cameras, finding the individuals responsible, and they WILL be permanently banned from the club. EDIT: The offender has been identified and will be dealt with ASAP and will NOT be allowed back at the club in the future. Now, with that said, there were other members present when this happened. Please .... PLEASE .... speak up and let me know when things like this happen. I know not everyone has it in them to speak up and confront another when they see something going on that they know is wrong. Maybe they may feel like a "narc" if they say something. I get it but please remember this club is MEMBER MAINTAINED AND POLICED and it is OUR duty to make sure things like this don't happen. Call me, text me, message me through here if you must to let me know what is happening or happened that is against the rules. (518)925-5405. Keep this number in your phone please. If I am not available to get to the club, we have other members that can be there in a hurry which I can contact. We need to know when rules are not being adhered to because those rules are in place for a reason. We need to know when someone is not considering the safety of others as well. The member that was there and witnessed it thought it was his guns that may have been the issue. I greatly appreciate that member contacting me concerned it was him at fault. ;) It was not. It was indeed a reactive target being used by another member and his guest. At least 2 people took video of it as seen on the cameras. Hey ... tannerite and other reactive targets are interesting and fun to shoot BUT they are also extremely loud and so percussive that they have caused damage INSIDE neighbors houses. Dishes/glasses falling out of the cabinets in ones kitchen is one of them. Another is pictures falling off the walls and windows rattling badly. They are that loud. I completely understand the curiosity of such targets but they are 100% banned from being used at our range out of respect for our neighbors and safety of our members.
Just a reminder, the range is closed tomorrow August 8th due to Weapons of War Day. Stop by between noon and 6pm to check out weapons and equipment from America and other countries used in WWI to present!! Open to the public and FREE. Bring the family and friends. :)
The page has been cleaned up. This will only be used for events only. No other posts will be made on this page in the future. :(
Thank you to Jim and his friend for replacing the electrical mast, meter box and wiring it up. We're hoping to get everything hooked up by Niagra Mohawk in a couple of weeks pending approval of an inspection. :) Thanks again guys.
We will be opening the riverside and it will remain open. The range side, we may have an option and are looking into it. We will keep you updated. We may need some help daily on the range side for this.
Come out and have some fun and show off your skills (or lack thereof in my case) in a laid back competition. 22LR shoots are alot of fun. Open to the public.
UPDATE: Jolly has said the range is again closed until further notice. They are working on the front wall. As soon as I hear that they are finished, I will let you know. We greatly apologize for the inconvenience.
The range is open today and Sunday. It will again be closed again on Monday for construction.
Due to construction, the range is closed until further notice.
We're in deep NY!! Call your representatives NOW!! This will be the start of confiscation in NY.
The range will be closed Sunday, December 8th from noon on for youth training. It's a safety course and introduction on safe gun handling, storage and ownership. Thanks for understanding.
Now for some comic relief ......
Great time and for a great cause!!
Great event for a great cause!!! :)
We had a mix of buyers and archery shooters today at our 1st Sportsmen/Outdoors Swap Meet. I'd like to thank all of those the participated! I got to sample some awesome wheat tea as well as try some of Lenny's homemade chilli!! Great stuff!! I think I'll have to order me some of that tea from Earthen Gold Farms! Those that shot the course today had fun and the deer between the down trees caused alittle target panic!!! We picked up a few new members today and the club sold lo...ts of shirts and hats. :) Off the Cuff Customs ... That 2nd Amendment Table .... I have to find room somewhere for it!! I need that table!! LOL We got to see the potential of this and will definitely do this again. A huge thank you to Frank Zink from 2nd Amendment Firearms LLC for hanging out as the FFL today and to Tim Blodgett from Saratoga Tackle and Archery for making me start counting my pennies to possibly get into paintball again and getting me to consider a new bow to boot!! See more

Hi all! We have discovered there are inconsistencies between Google Maps (android users) and Apple’s map (iPhones) when it comes to finding our location thru your GPS’s. With iPhone users and thru all Apple apps, the physical address comes out to be 1650 River Rd County Rt 113 *Easton*, NY. That will bring you right to us.... Android and Google Maps users, the address is 1650 River Rd County Rt 113, *Schuylerville*, NY. Don’t ask us why it does this, but hopefully this helps clear up some frustrations.
We recieved a complaint of someone shooting at the range early this morning. How early you ask? Well .... After looking at the video, the first shot was fired at 6:15am from their pistol. Please, if you haven't read the shooting rules and the bylaws, do so to become familiar with them. The range is open from 8am until dusk. No shooting prior to 8am.
Today I was notified of someone shooting exploding targets (tannerite) at the range. I went up and watched the video and we have the license plate as well as the car and very clear pics of those who did it. I know that it's been talked about and it's well known that NO exploding reactive targets are allowed on the property, anywhere at anytime including the range!! This was voted on and passed by the Board of Directors a few years back. I will again go over the video and have... the BOD members look at it as safety rules were NOT followed at all when the two people were shooting. They also failed to sign in which is causing us to run the plate number. What I have seen on the video is both disturbing and VERY disappointing just from a safety standpoint. Muzzles are NOT to be facing downrange when someone is out on the range!! No care if the mag is out and the action open ... there are to be no muzzles facing downrange when someone is tending targets on the range. Accidents don't just happen ... they are meant to be because of lack of judgement. The use of exploding/reactive targets is 100% forbidden. This event caused some people who live within a 1 mile radius to call me because "the whole house shook". The member(s) will be contacted and they may be facing a ban from the club for the lack of following the rules setforth by the BOD as well as the neglect of gun safety clearly stated in the by laws. We can't have this kind of conduct at the range. This kind of stuff is what can get us in deep. We are not here to disturb others around us. They have been good to us and supportive. Let's not change that please. NRA APPROVED TARGETS ONLY (Paper, clay, metal) CANS AND BOTTLES ARE NOT TO BE USED. EXPLODING/REACTIVE TARGETS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
Just a reminder that the range will be closed this Saturday until 4pm due to the NYS Hunter Education Course. Thank you.
Pay attention folks!!! The NYS database is 100% unconstitutional as it is!!! People will ask "How do they know I'm a gun owner?" ... the simple answer is the princess made the DEC licensing database part of the DMV database and guess where it shows you purchased a hunting license?? That's right .. the SAME database that is going to be used for this!!
Please be advised that the range will be closed today 1/4/19 as Jolly will be doing maintenance inside the range house. Jolly also requests that I make the announcement that the range is closed on Saturdays while the 22 shoots are going on. This means no open shooting from 8am until the shoots have ended on these days. You are all welcome to join in on the shoots and they are open to the public. I will be at the range house today as well cleaning and getting the place ready for the shoots tomorrow. If you'd like to lend a hand, feel free to stop up. The range itself does need a little cleanup as well. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
NYS State Senator Fred Akshar has established an online poll regarding NYS Senate Bill #S9197 pertaining to the proposed social media and search engine background check process. This bill would give authority to local law enforcement serving the jurisdiction of your favorite FFL to obtain your social media user name and password credentials to perform a social media (e.gl, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram) background check as well as an Internet search history backgroun...d check on an applicant prior to taking delivery of *ANY* firearm regardless of type or caliber. The same process would be followed for new license applications and renewals as well. There is no mention in the bill regarding how technical limitations, privacy concerns, the reality of multiple devices, ISP logging, or how administrative and resource limitations would be addressed once this unfunded mandate is passed on to the localities. Yes, you read that correctly. All SRGC members should read the language in this flawed bill and then respond to the poll accordingly and professionally. Your input into the legislative process is absolutely vital. Please read, respond, and share. https://www.nysenate.gov//poll-do-you-support-social-media
Very excited to see a design of our new signs. What do you all think?
Awwww .... so sweet!! Tis the season .... (There are a couple "bad" words in it so NSFW)
So I asked for more clarification on the "events" on the riverside. What it is referring to is no more non-member parties. That was one I was also confused on. Members can hold events but nothing like 15 families who are members having 15 other families that aren't members attending. In other words, if you would like to have a b-day party or whatever there, it is as it has been but not two day, massive parties that involve more non members than members if that makes sense to you. Camping IS allowed by members. Fishing is allowed by members. There is to be no change there. Basically, nothing is really changing on the riverside except the hunting and large parties. I know I feel alittle better about this. We will be looking into other insurance policies as well. I hope this clears things up as I know it did for me.
We have some MAJOR changes to announce. First, ALL treestands MUST be removed from ALL club property. Next, hunting is no longer allowed on ALL club property. This means the riverside as well. Thirdly, ALL parties and non club related events, are no longer allowed on club property. This is a result of mostly the insurance and princess cuomo!!! I'm not happy about this. The archery is on hold until another BOD meeting is held and will be revisited. If you can make the next club meeting, a week from today, I encourage you to do so. Anyone looking to join from here on is to have a sponsor. If there is no sponsor they must apply in person at a meeting. There's the update that I said I would get to you all. Let the comments fly!!
We'd like to say THANK YOU to Mitch Raysor and his wife for the great job wiping the range house down and getting it looking good!! Great job!!
What do you all think of this? Any interest in these at $5 each? If so, I can have some made up in time for the next meeting.
So ... who wants to have a sportsmans garage sale but make it open to other things you're trying to get rid of as well? If we do this, should we do it like the 1st or 2nd weekend in September? Anyone here have a FFL they'd be willing to do person to person transfers and promote a shop they may have? What do y'all think? It would be open to vendors of crafts, food and whatever free of charge to them. just trying to get an idea here if it would be something worth doing. :)
OK .... ummm ..... er ...... due to recent events, I must post this public service announcement on how to start a campfire safely. Don't ask .... just see below and follow it please.
They helped us sell some of our tickets so let's show them some support by buying some of theirs. :)
At the meeting, it was brought up by a member, that we establish an email list to try to help the communication issue. It is definitely an idea that we are looking to pursue so, please, if you will, go to our webpage and send a message to the club with your name, email and membership number. We discovered that the emails provided on the applications were not saved into the database. The only time we'll send out an email is for events and if it's something of importance. You will not get bombarded with emails believe me.
This is always a great time!! Lots of fun and lots of great people. Anyone want to enter this as a group? ;)
Morgan is running for the state assembly for our district! Hopefully we can help her reach her goal. :) Good luck Morgan!
Thank you so much to Mike Garger for all of his help this weekend. Climbing trees in the rain today, dropping trees, limbing them and just everything he does to help out. Thank you Mike!! Your hard work is getting the riverside that much closer to being open again! If you look at the tree/wood on the ground in front of the skidsteer, you'll see why the trees are being taken down.
