The property of the Former Western Block, and 3 stone buildings still in existence today, predates the Western Block spanning back to the early 1800s. Many paranormal experiences have been told by current tenants of the property, former workers of the Western Block, and in written journals of people once associated with the property. With the property's direct connection to the Erie Canal, accounts of Canal Workers/Builders, Canal Boat Passengers, and Travelers are told to h...ave also visited the property, as a Hotel once stood on site but burned down in 1841. Paranormal Investigators have picked up audio telling investigators to "Get Out" "Fire" in parts of the building that have burned over various fires in the past 200 years. There are also accounts of a Gentleman and lady in historic dress that have visited the Art Gift Shop and classes, because of "their love for the arts and what the complex was turned into" post Western Block. Lockport Native:

This week was the first time I've been back inside my art studio since March. Wearig a mask, but it is what it is. Not really back to work in the studio yet (a ...lot of my artwork is there for you to see though). I was volunteering, helping with another outdoor community project, and while I was there I found out that; A). My Chalk Walk mural somehow managed to survive all the rain in July, until last week, and B). I was welcome to keep drawing on the chalkboard whenever I see it blank, like this week. ~ So here is chalk mural 2020 number 2. :) Took maybe an hour or so. I didn't sketch it out beforehand and there was no theme to follow. I just started drawing. - I'm not traveling anywhere this year, a lot of times when I travel there's a mountain somewhere, but I'm not going to find one close to Lockport. So since Lockport doesn't have any mountains, I made some for my own amusement and for others to enjoy too. - This chalk mural is right outside ART247 (247 Market Street, Lockport NY), and you are welcome to stop by and see it in person.
