The FLX food experience has arrived in Corning,

Coleen Fabrizi, executive director of Corning's Gaffer District, said restaurants and businesses in the district are now just trying to get by, in what is usually one of the busiest times of the year -- the holiday season. What is coming up is January and February, which is typically the hardest time of the year for businesses," Fabrizi said. "Many businesses are trying to mix it up with curbside pickup and delivery, so now more than ever, people should shop local. I just hope people do.

New coronavirus cases leaped in New York in the week ending Saturday, rising 41.4% as 61,687 cases were reported. The previous week had 43,615 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19. The latest growth ranked New York 11th in the nation in the rate of new cases over the past week.

Butcher’s Son, a modern take on a classic butcher shop, recently opened in Corning's Gaffer District. Owner Cameron Matthews said the goal of the shop, at 127 W. Market St., is to provide locally sourced meats of the highest quality, while building connections between local farmers and customers.
