When I as a Christian think of Valentine's Day, I think of love. As a Christian, I think of the wonderful love of God. I think of John 3:16, the beloved scripture God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Now that's something to really celebrate! That is something eternal! Because of his great love for us and because Jesus died on the cross for us, we can have eternal life through Him... and Him alone! I'm sure that when you think of Valentine's Day, you think of candy, roses, and romance. There's nothing wrong with any of those things. But when I think of Valentine's Day, I think of Jesus and His great love for me, for us, and the sacrifice that He paid for me for the forgiveness of my sins!! The Shepherd's Ministries New York has a wonderful group of people who love to serve the Lord. I won't name names because there are just far too many! There are 7 different Ministries to the Shepherd's Ministries. Each one has different people involved in them. But the team of servants is like a wonderful Orchestra making music in Harmony. It's all about Jesus and focusing on Him. I truly believe that each one of our team members is in it for the Lord and His Glory. This week... two of our volunteers, a husband and wife put up all the boxes for the senior center. How could we do this without dedicated volunteers? Next week is the Men's' breakfast in Barneveld, New York. We're blessed to have a group of men who gather together for prayer and fellowship and a study in the word. Many of these men one way or another are connected to the Shepherd's Ministries New York. The breakfast begins at 8:30 AM. The Shepherd's Ministries New York has the privilege of blessing seniors who live in a senior complex every month. We have given them water, juices, raisin bread, candy, and many different types of items. I came to realize over the last couple of years that some of our seniors are very neglected. Many of them are lonely and isolated. By delivering these boxes and items we have a way of showing the love of Christ to others. When was the last time you helped a senior? I've had ...the joy, and I see it as a ministry, helping seniors where I live to clean off their cars during a snowstorm. Jesus said whatever we do we should do as unto Him. I used to think it was a little task just helping seniors clean off their windshields but now I realize whatever I do puts a smile on His face as long as I do it for Him. Let's go out and serve the Lord those of us who named the name of Christ! The Shepherd's Ministries New York has had wonderful opportunities to share Christ with so many seniors through our ministries! We have also had the opportunity to provide supplies at a senior center to help those in need. Once again, this month in February, we will be able to help those in need. Many people don't realize that senior citizens struggle with low finances, and every little bit helps. Some people are fortunate to have big pensions, stocks, and other resources, b...ut many seniors live on a small social security check each month. When I dropped off juice at one senior's home, she told me that it was such a blessing because she doesn't usually buy juice because she can't afford it! What a blessing to be able to help others in need. This is one way that the church lets its light shine brightly!!
