*Monday Movement* Anyone else feel like the whole body just needs some movement after the holiday weekend?! Swan Dive Prep on Ladder Barrel starts allowing the spine to be supported in flexion (which feels amazing on the low back). Darting out into a neutral spine with extended legs to then fully extend the spine opening the front body. Bending knees and turning out hips during extension facilitates action while protecting the low back. Returning through neutral spine to cont...rol the release into supported flexion again. Forward Step Up is my hip, knee & ankle stability nemesis!! While it appears to be a simple exercise, so much control must be asserted to maintain level hips, proper knee tracting, and avoiding ankle rolling. Hands down is a good warm up, hands up is where the real challenge is! Lower & Lift into Short Spine For many people this challenges the length in their hamstrings, but I have to focus on not stretching too deeply into it. By maintaining back pressure into the footstraps I can make sure that I am actively working to not stretch too much. The main reason that I focus more on Pilates than yoga is due to my hypermobility. Almost every injury I have ever sustained (shoulder, knee, hip, ribs) is from being too "bendy".
