MARCH 18, 2021 UPDATE: It's happening! We've been working with New York State to bring this pop-up vaccine site to the Town's Senior Center this Monday and Tues...day! We are limited to 500 doses -- please call (631) 351-3253 to make an appointment. See: https://www.facebook.com//a.10150219652/10164851226125305/ _______________________ #covid19vaccine Two weeks ago, I sent a letter signed by the entire Town Board to the Governor's office offering the Town of Huntington Senior Center facility as a potential COVID-19 vaccination site, due to the space, parking and refrigeration facilities available. While our Senior Center is still providing meals to #HuntingtonSeniors on our Home Delivered Meals and Drive-Through Meal Delivery Service, as well as Residential Repair and other in-home services, the Senior Center facility itself will sit largely vacant until it is safe for Town of Huntington senior citizens to gather there again. The Town had previously conducted an in-house analysis of space under our jurisdiction that could accommodate the basic needs of a #vaccine point of distribution. We have determined that our Senior Center (423 Park Avenue, Huntington), largely vacant due to COVID-19, would provide the State with a complement of amenities including, but not limited to a spacious cafeteria, numerous classrooms, bathrooms, refrigerators, heating and air-conditioning, and plentiful parking spaces. The Senior Center’s close proximity to NYS Route 110, NYS Route 25A and Park Avenue is conducive to easy access from all points of the Town. Furthermore, the facility is situated between Jackson Avenue and Park Avenue, which would provide flexible traffic control options. You may remember last year, when the Town had offered the Senior Center site to Huntington Hospital for their use with the initial COVID-19 influx, however the space ended up not fitting the hospital's specific needs, so the space is available. We hope to be able to offer a large, safe #vaccination site at the Town's Senior Center and I will keep you updated as we explore this option with the Governor's office.

Lupinacci urged riders of the Town’s Huntington Area Rapid Transit (HART) Bus system wear face masks or other face coverings when riding as a passenger starting on April 15, Governor Cuomo announced an Executive Order mandating all mass transit riders to wear face masks.
