Hey everyone, meet John Mathiasen! This is John's second year as Chief of TEVAS and he is also a Top Responder for the agency. John is always looking out for the safety of our members and reaches out after tough calls to make sure we are okay. John always makes sure that the patient is the number one priority on every call and he always ensures that teamwork always makes the best outcome for each and every patient. Membership Year: 2009 About Me: I am the Chief of one of th...e best Ambulance squads around. In the past year, all of our members have really come together during the pandemic. I have also taken on roles as a Commissioner of the Esopus Fire Department, as well as President of the Ulster County EMS Council. I work as a dispatcher for Ulster County 911 and Town of Ulster Police. It may sound like a lot, however I enjoy all of it. Why I Volunteer: We all volunteer to help people in their time of need, but there is more to it. There is team work that goes in to each and every call. The friends you make in Emergency Services and the memories you create will last you a lifetime. If you want to be like John and volunteer your time with TEVAS, please don't hesitate to contact our page for an application.

Hey everyone, meet Walt Hamilton! Walt is an active Driver and Squad Leader with TEVAS. He is part of the infamous Grumpy Old Man crew on Sunday mornings with Bill Ferguson (aka Digger) as his driver. Sunday mornings you can catch Walt and Digger reading the newspaper, watching movies, or maybe even playing darts at the squadhouse. Walt has always been consistent with running duty time at TEVAS and we appreciate him for dedicating his service to us for all these years! Membe...rship Year: 2001 About Me: I joined the U.S. Navy in 1971 and became an EMT in 1990. On the side I enjoy woodworking and for the past 7 years I have been doing karate, where I am currently a green belt. I will be renewing my EMT certification for another 3 years because I am not ready to break up the Grumpy Old Man crew. Why I Volunteer: I see volunteering with TEVAS as a hobby of mine that I have been doing for 20 years. Providing life-saving services as a first responder and giving back to my community makes it all worthwhile. If you want to be like Walt and volunteer your time with TEVAS, please don’t hesitate to contact our page for an application!

Hey everyone, meet Christian Dalsgard! Christian is an active member with TEVAS and became a driver with us last year. Christian has also recently became an EMT and we look forward to training him to become a squad leader! Christian is also the photographer behind our iconic cover photo of our ambulances. No matter the day, if Christian is around, we are bound to have a busy day! Thank you for your service, Christian! Membership Year: 2016 About Me: I am 27 years old and I’ve... been a member of TEVAS for almost 5 years, mostly driving and assisting our EMT’s. This year I got my EMT certification and look forward to providing care to patients. I’ve been heavily involved in public service for over 10 years. I have been employed in law enforcement for multiple agencies as both a dispatcher and sworn officer for almost 5 years. I am currently a firefighter with the Accord Fire District, on my spare time I run a very popular Facebook page highlighting the Ulster County Fire Service with some friends of mine. Outside of public service I have a passion for auto racing, music and concerts, and photography. Why I Volunteer: I volunteer because I enjoy helping people and giving back. From the smallest calls to the biggest ones there is always a sense of pride when you can bring light to somebody’s dark situation. Somebody’s worst day is our every day and that’s every day we can make a difference. If you want to be like Christian and volunteer your time with TEVAS please don't hesitate to contact our page for an application!
